Miami University senior forward Pat Cannone said he expects to sign an entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators today, which would make him the third RedHawk in six days to sign on the dotted line.
“I spoke with Ottawa today,” Cannone said Wednesday night, “and I’m going to Binghamton, N.Y., tomorrow.”
The Binghamton Senators are Ottawa’s affiliate in the American Hockey League. Cannone is a native of Bayport, N.Y., which is about 175 miles southeast of Binghamton.
“I think I’ll be playing Friday and Saturday night (in Binghamton’s final two regular-season games),” said the Miami co-captain, who ranked fourth among the RedHawks this season in scoring (14 goals, 23 assists, 37 total points).
Probably not going to see much time in Bingo this year, but its nice to know that with potentially 3 forwards graduating to Ottawa next season we have the prospect depth to cover it.
Tim Murray was alluding to this signing the other day, never a bad thing I suppose to have more prospect depth. Actually pumped the more I think of it. Anyone off the top their heads know the contract number we are at for next year?

What'd he say?
Are you talking about the junior college player they were high on that they didn't know whether he'd leave or not? I don't think Cannone is that guy.
