I think there might be a news article of him saying that
Well I'd like to read the exact quote, that's all I'm sayin'. It's hard to imagine a GM whose team has had so much uncertainty surrounding that position, would boldly state he doesn't believe in spending significant cap space to address that uncertainty. But hey, GM's have been known to say some crazy things over the years.
Quote:
but otherwise, it seems pretty clear to me, IMO.
I think he's structured his cap spending on his forwards and defensemen to provide the Flyers with some of the best depth in the league. But I don't see that as any indication on how he'll address his team's most pressing need(s) as their cap space & options fluctuate . Hell, the cap is all but certain to go up $3 mil next season... Just adding that along with subtracting Leighton & Boucher's cap hits, and that's $5.4 mil in cap space right there. I have no doubt the Flyers would spend more money on their goaltending if the right opportunity came along and the numbers worked. Their cap space will be a little snug next season without making any moves (I'd move Versteeg for sure) but they should be fine beyond that...
Also, I know it's not NHL-related, but it's a huge day for Team GB today too. If we can beat Poland and Ukraine don't beat Kazakhstan by more than three goals then we'll be promoted to the elite level with the US, Canada, etc.
I would give the next 3 first round pick + for Ryan
Seriously, I want that kid on the Rangers. Love B. Ryan.

Great win for the Preds, at least they're kicking on if the Rangers get eliminated later.
Two franchise firsts for the Preds last night. First time they won in OT in the playoffs and first time they won a game 5. Hopefully this means it's also going to be their first time out of the first round!
I can't wait to see Bridgestone Arena in the 2nd round.

One down, one to go.
That Ryan goal's something else, glad it didn't cost the Preds the game though.
Versus decides that the feed they are going to use for the Bolts/Pens game is the Pitt feed...WTF. Whatever they are smoking at VS/NBC Sports can they send me some please?

good win for GB 3-2 vs Poland. I found this report on the game:
Dude, he had 1 assist in his previous 4 playoff games. And he scored 45 goals in the regular season. That's just not getting it done, and I don't think there's gonna be much argument about that.
Kubina twice on the PP, then Rupp. 7-1 now. This is impressive by Tampa Bay though, they were being completely outclassed in the first period and once they scored haven't looked back.
