Pens fan coming in peace...
Go Isles, destroy Philadelphia!

Hoping that Tavares and Grabner light the lamp.

The Flyers own the tiebreaker with the Pens, so the Pens need the Isles to win and hold the Flyers to a single point.

As a call out to Mario, here's how I'd like to see tonight go:

Tied after regulation.

Tied after OT.

Capuano names his shootout players:

Gillies
Konopka
Haley

Per my earlier post, we signed our draft pick out of Ohio State, Shane Sims, to an ATO

If Ottawa wins, I'm rooting for out for a win as we "clinch" #27. If not, I'd rather just lock up the #4 spot. This is a pointless game for the fans.

I think all Ottawa needs is a single point and that's that. They'd be 2 points ahead and they own the first tiebreaker.

Ah, yeah, that would be correct.

I was actually joking about them signing a defenseman but i guess they did. Thanks for the info. I have been interested in seeing what Sims has

BTW Law, are you an RFA this off season? I will personally match any offersheet other boards offer you if they choose to do so.

That was not the only time Nystrom and Bridgeman squared off in a rock 'em sock 'em punch out. Bobby was a bit taller and had longer arms, Bridgeman a tough, thick Western Canada boy. They both were punchers, they didn't worry about defense, they just went right at it trying to do damage. Really, two of the best, toughest heavyweights (for that time). Their fights were classics like the 4 Gillies/O'Reilly fights in 1980.
Nystrom talked about meeting Bridgeman after both were retired at some outing or charity and said they both never even mentioned the fights but both showed utmost respect to each other. Old time hockey.

Gonna be flipping between this one and the Canes game, maybe even some of the NCAA championship. Good night for hockey.

2 for Tavares(30), 2 for Grabs(35), 1 for Comeau(25).

Ottawa losing late in the 3rd, so if we beat Pfilthy we are locked into 26th.
If we lose either regulation or OT/SO we finish 27th on tiebreaker (ROW).

I don'd give a damn. Beat the F'ers, beat them bad.
Go Islanders

I don't know, apparently GoV and Brunomics are taking the RFA approach in a different direction this offseason. Sure it kinda creeps me out a bit, but regardless, good to see them going the extra mile!

Great night of hockey! The remote is gonna get a workout tonight.

Throw in the NYR vs. NJD, NYY vs. BOS, and The Masters and we have quite a full plate of sports today! Makes it a little easier to be stuck on the friggin' couch on a beautiful day.

Awesome GDT as always Law. 82 games a year, injured or healthy, I can always count on hands-down, the best Islanders game previews on the internet. Plus, I always get a kick checking out GDTs of other teams and seeing crappy 1-sentence previews. Great job.

Anyone know what number Sims is getting?

This draft situation is looking awfully similar to 2007-2008. We beat the Rangers in a shootout in the last game, giving us a point that tied us with the Blues and therefore gave us the 5th pick instead of the 4th (think, we would've had Pietrangelo and not Bailey+crew if we lost that shootout!). 2 points today would put us in the #5 spot for the 3rd time in 4 years, likely missing out on the "big 4" - even though there are plenty of other good options available.

Apparently, Couturier may drop below the Top 4, so they could still get him. Nothing wrong with getting Strome or Huberdeau either.

Guess that means the Isles are locking up the 4th overall pick this year.

Last year, the Islanders got "meaningless" points and, as a result, was "forced" to draft Nino instead of Gudbradson. Looking back now, I'd rather have Nino.

GO ISLES!! BEAT THE FLYERS!!
