I am pleased with having the sabres, even though I think we would be the rangers, they rangers are very physical and will put a wear on any team they play

I would rather face the Rangers without Callahan than the Sabres.

The bigger edge comes in round two, I would.much rather face the Pens/Bolts over the Bruins.

Montreal almost always beats the Bruins. Other than 2009, it happens like...any other time.

If we get past Buffalo, I like how it sets up for us.

I'd say more like shut them down. Boston has some offense, but their defense and goaltending is REALLY where it's at.

Pens fan dropping in.

Congrats on winning the division. Hard fought down to the last game, great way to end the regular season.

Good luck in the playoffs.

Anyone else looking forward to seeing the Rangers run the Capitals all series long and consequently wear them down so they flop out in the second round in 5 games?
So glad we don't play the Rangers.

If I got to choose, I'd rather play Buffalo than NYR so finishing 2nd wasn't so bad. Still not thrilled with the way we play though. It was nice to score some goals, but that kind of team defense (it was actually mostly our forwards who were at fault, not keeping their assignments and giving away pucks left and right) will make us exit the playoffs very early. It was almost as bad as the Ottawa game. Not quite, but too close to make me feel all right. Leino needs to get his head on straight if he wants to see the ice in the playoffs.

Focusing on positive signs instead: Brière had a really good game and could have had a hat trick with just a little bit of luck. Versteeg was better than he's been in a while. van Riemsdyk looks more and more comfortable with the puck in difficult areas. Coburn-Timonen were constantly looking to create offense. Meszaros actually created offense. Carle has really become a lot faster this year, he had a great shift where he neutralized Grabner on two occasions. Boucher stepped in and had a pretty strong game.

Congrats to your team doing what it did this year with the injuries they had to deal with. Question, Are you concerned about Sid's future in the league? He is not shy about the phyiscal part of the game and I feel there will be some in the league who will be going after him with even more gusto knowing he is only one hit away from being out for God knows how long.

We still miss Pronger. However if we play our game we should take this in 5, six tops. Forecheck Forecheck Forecheck. Go to the net hard. Pick up your assignments and we should move on.

The flipside to that is if we had just beaten the rangers in regulation that last game, we're playing the Canes first round in the 1 spot, which I'd take over the Sabres and Rangers.

Regardless, I do agree with you -- rather play the Sabres than the Rangers, but I'm not stoked about it.

By the way, since much has been made of it in the past couple of weeks, I thought Richards looked great tonight, like he was in playoff mode. He had a lot of jump and he was playing with snarl. Laviolette used him wisely this last week -- hasn't played him too much outside of special teams (or Richards is just playing short shifts) since he's been our top PKer with Betts out of the lineup.

Anyway, he looked like the Richards we've come to know and love.

Your first good post!

Philadelphia does come before Pittsburgh alphabetically though so it makes sense.

Your San Diego comment. What was that in reference to?

San Diego was a reference to Anchorman.

You don't have to pretend to like them, but I always find it a little classless to wish a guy's career to end due to injury. Post Concussion Syndrome sucks, and ruins a lot more than just playing hockey....go ask Keith Primeau what it's like to have to suffer from concussion effects long-term in your daily life outside of the rink and after the game ends.

I don't like Sidney Crosby at all, and I despise the S***tsburgh Penguins more than anybody else, but hoping a guy's career and livelihood gets taken away from him is kinda low-brow. No matter how serious anyone who's played or really loved hockey takes the game, at the end of the day these guys have normal lives outside of the rink, and no matter how much I hate a player, it's a little messed up to go there.
