I'd prefer Green doesn't play. I don't believe in "tuning up" when everyone else on the ice will be half-assing it. He's not gonna be able to get up for this game. I say skate him hard in practice and unleash him in round 1.
Sk8 has been suggesting for some time that we cant fit green back into the lineup and be under the salary cap. Which would explain why green is ready to go and being held out.
I hope this is the case, but I don't like what it means for next year unless Schultz is a salary dump in the offseason.
It's vitally important to keep Hannan, not quite so much Wideman though I would personally like to see him stay. Arnott may retire in the offseason, but I hope he doesn't. Lots of guys are due raises but someone is going to have to go to keep a comparable line up to what we have now.
I could be seriously misunderstanding our cap situation though.
True, but I'd add and possibly cap/LTIR related. If this is about not getting medical clearance - 'concerning'; if it's about questioning him returning for a last game - 'possibly prudent'; if it's not an option to remove him from LTIR until the regular season ends and playoffs begin, then while it would be nice for him to play in a game, better than the other options at this time so I'll say - 'promising.'
They ran Collins into a ditch, what's to say some bozo won't possibly run Green?
If he's ready, he's ready. Not because he got 18-20 against Florida.
The concern would be if he's not ready/hasn't received medical clearance. I don't believe that's the issue (cap/LTIR) but we won't know for sure unless someone asks some direct questions and gets answers; otherwise we possibly wait until game 1 of the playoffs (which looks like it will be Wed. night,) to have an answer.
I think the big thing with green is that we fans have basically no idea what is up with him. The caps have long been very secretive about injuries and it has it's ups and downs....but in the long run I think it's better for the team especially playoff time. At least every one of the injured players we have are known quantities withwhom BB has experience.
