Lessard Suspended

Lessard is suspended, and Cody Bass will be replacing him in Boston today

Quote:
Bruce Garrioch
Curtis McElhinney will make the start for the Senators. Bass goes in for the suspended Lessard.

Good for Bass. Looked to be a solid fourth liner in the organization before the shoulder surgery. I'm glad he's getting a chance to play again.

As for Lessard getting suspended for that hit....lol

Yes, good for Bass.

on the lessard suspension..... I can't stand it when players know a hit is coming and turn their backs intentionally. It is dumb. Take the hit and skate away.

Funniest thing that came out of that hit was Healy counting anywhere from 8-12 strides when I counted about 4.5.

I don't think the hit necessarily deserved a suspension, but I'm in favor of ANYTHING that keeps a Sens jersey off of Lessard's back.

Hopefully he's played his last game for the org.

Suspended purely because its Lessard, no other reason, that suspension is bollocks.

Yes you can, it'll continue to happen in every game. Wasn't a vicious hit from behind in the least.

Ah well, glad to see Bass get a taste, he deserves it.

Ottawa is a better team without Lessard. He is possibly the worst player to ever lace them up for the Sens.

I don't know, it looked to me like the defencemen turned the wrong way. If the defencemen would have continued & gone behind the net Lessard would have run into the boards but he turned back right where Lessard was going. IMO it was one of those reputation calls. It looked to me like Lessard was surprised that the defencemen turned & he had already slowed down a bit & ran into him. Anyway with his limited ice time, he won't be missed that much but I do like the way he skates really fast on every shift he gets, he tries to hit guys & sticks up for his teammates. I think his teammates appreciate that.

Nice for Bass. Lessard is up there with the worst hockey players I've seen in a Sens uniform. He has no place on a real NHL team.

Glad to see Bass is getting another shot. He seemed to be on pace to be a mainstay in the bottom 6 before he got injured.

CBC just said that Murray has said that he hasn't heard from the NHL that Leassard has been suspended. So maybe he doesn't get suspended & Bass is just being given his shot for having a good yr on & off the ice in Bingo.

The hit wasnt that bad but Lessard was running around like a moron for his whole shift leading up to it, he wasnt even trying to play hockey because he cant. So I dont really care. I hope he never plays for us again.

I get them sending a message, but why no call/suspension on the hit on Z. Smith the other night, with a clear elbow up to the head.

If the NHL wants to send out a message, they need to start being consistent.

Sensjersey11 we all know Lessard is not a skilled player, never will be.

Just Lessard sitting on the bench keeps other teams from taking liberties with the smaller skilled Sens.

I would be happy to have him back in Binghamton next yr to protect the Sens prospects from the AHL wolves. Lessard is good in the locker room gives you what he has, & works hard.

I come from a diff era of hockey, I appreciate an enforcer and his value.

Would you consider a more capable player and a less quality enforcer ala Triston Grant instead?

That spot may even go to a rookie player, like if they draft or invite to camp Darren Kramer.

No it doesn't. Lessard can't fight worth beans. He just stands there and slugs and doesn't protect himself or even aim his punches. Lessard is just a punching bag and he can't skate or play hockey at the NHL level.

Carkner, Neil, Smith, Bass, etc. Those guys know how to fight and can actually play hockey. I know what you mean about appreciating an enforcer, but Lessard wasn't even very good at it.

Bruiser well that is the way the game is going today. The true enforcer days are ending.

Some teams want enforcers who can take a regular shift.

So with the way the game today is played I am open to that. Not to say that I like it, but am open to it.

I remember the 6 team NHL, and enforcers hold a special place with me. At times I miss the way the game used to be played..........
