All in all, it's a real crappy way to end your relationship with your leading scorer. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Recchi wants to stay here, we say see you later. Malakhov and Zhamnov look like they don't want to be here and the organization is pleading with them to come back. Just doesn't make any sense to me. And as much as I like Mike Knuble, there is no way that he replaces Recchi's production. We go from a 70 point scorer to a 40 point scorer. And the whole crap about Recchi being 36 is exactly that. It's crap. And while his play may have tailed off in the playoffs, truth of the matter is that he still gave it his all, even while playing with a hernia. I guess this means that they're probably going to move Gagne to the top line and hope they get some serious production out of the wing from him. But without a centerman like Zhamnov to feed him the puck........anyway we look at things, what a fine mess we have on our hands.

:lol

You know that every rebuilding team should have vets to input leadership and proper guidance to the prospects right?
Do you prefer Recchi and Kovalev or Holzinger and McKenna?

Holzinger for some reason was playing 20 min a game. Recchi will replace him.
Bradley, McKenna, Buchberger also played alot. Kovalev will replace one of them. The other 2 are gone, making room for young players.

That will be a hell of a lot closer than being in Pittsburgh.

My head tells me that this is a good move because the Flyers need to get younger...

But my heart says that we should have kept Rex. He lead our team in goals, assists, and points and is a great leader. Sure he couldn't keep up in the playoffs, but without Recchi in the lineup in the regular season, I doubt that we win the division. Clarke probably could have signed him to a 2 year deal and 3 million per year and that would have been worth it.

Like you know who the better team will be in three years. Get real.

Last I checked, Clarke is still the GM, and the Flyers haven't raised the cup since leisure suits and disco where cool.

And the Penguins haven't raised the Cup since Mullets and Members Only Jackets were popular. Oh wait, they still are in Pittsburgh.

The last time Philly raised the cup they had a huge homeless problem...dirty, filthy streets filled with homeless people...oh wait...it is still that way.

Nice. Have you lived downtown Philly, I have and yes it is dirty. The homeless are FAR less than Detroit and Chicago which I have lived in as well.
I hope you have lived in a city before you trash it - no pun meant.
Or have you never lived in Philly and have no clue what you are talking about?

I wonder who's going to get Rex's A? Or Leclair's at that. Kapanen and Roenick?

You don't have to live there to see how dirty it is, and how bad the homeless problem is. It is painfully obvious.

I was in Philly several times, and thought it was disgraceful. One of my best friends lived there for 10 years, and told me the same thing.

The homeless problem is one of the biggest in the country, once estimated at around 25,000. So passing the buck to Detroit or Chicago won't change things.

A troll in denial...no offense but without Mario Pittsburgh wouldn't even know they had a team other than the Steelers....who also suck. We know how long it's been, and don't need anyone reminding us....you have no claims until you at least come within 25 points of a playoff spot. :lol

Is THIS why Rex went to paradise in Pittsburgh?

Hey your boy was the one saying Recchi won't win a cup in Pgh. So apparently someone needed to be reminded the Flyers haven't sniffed a cup in almost 30 years. Seems you are the ones in denial.

Last time I saw a Philly team in the cup, Stevie Y and his crew were sweeping them off the ice.

You can ramble on about playoffs and such, but Blues fans can tell you that doesn't mean a thing.

If I were you I wouldn't worry about the Steelers. I'm sure the Eagles will make you all proud and lose their fourth consecutive NFC championship. Someday they may actually win a Super Bowl.

When your only Super Bowl memories are with Jaws at Qb, that is too lame.

here is an idea.
go back to your own board. this thread was not started for you to insult the city of Philadelphia. But i guess we cant expect everyone to show class. there allways has to be someone who has to shoot their mouth off and cause trouble.
