I'm not really liking Zach's quotes lately. He needs to feel like a top priority, not just another check on Lou's to-do list.
Lou is feeding him uninteresting bull **** as to not allow the media to tip his hand. Unfortunately this doesn't resonate for fans, as evident by people constantly living in fear of what may happen. Just relax. He'll be back next year. We have another 14 months and 3 weeks to get this worked out. It will likely happen sooner than that, so don't fret.
Depends when negotiations start. Kovy's deal was signed on July 19 or 20 I believe. I think Parise will be done much sooner than that. Given the team's season ending early, I think going beyond the first week of July would be slightly surprising, but as seen with Bobby Ryan, it can become a lengthy process. Ultimately I see a similar result - landing him somewhat long term.
I don't. I see Lou having to awkwardly tear the kid down in arbitration to try to get some wiggle room and Parise taking the short term deal, than going UFA next summer. Once UFA he will test the waters and see what he's worth on the open market.
This is what his agent will advise. This is what the NHLPA would like to see happen. Just one fans opinion.
I think we're reading too much into that quote. TG has quotes from Parise saying that he wants to come back and that he's interested in a long term deal. That's not just because he's restricted, that's an indication that he really wants to be a Devil.

You mean, that's your wet dream scenario because you're a Rangers fan. The rest of us who are living in reality recognise that Parise probably isn't going anywhere for at least a few more years.

The meddling of the NHLPA might be the only thing that really worries me.
I'm not sure the agent would advise this scenario on his own, like you're saying. Guys want security - a 1-year deal is a big risk. Especially for a guy who just missed a full season. Injuries can always strike and Parise has already experienced that. I think most agents are reasonable - while some are very aggressive, most are risk-averse and when you are getting big money no matter what, they'll take the safe big money rather than risky potentially bigger money (unless the difference is very large).
I think Parise probably would like to stay (or at least has no desire to leave). I think the Devils will offer a fair deal. Unless the NHLPA gets involved I think this will get worked out.
And I don't think this NHLPA interference scenario would happen...but that Kovy nightmare has me a bit paranoid when it comes to league and PA stuff...
Parise taking a one year deal would be a bad move on his part and his agent's part, because another injury - even a relatively insignificant one - could ruin his chances for a real long-term deal a year from now.

I'm sure your Ranger BS has nothing to do with your view. His agent won't advise that garbage. Parise recently hired Wade Arnott who has historically had great negotiations with Lou. And why would the NHLPA suggest change of scenery? A long term contract is what every player wants, if the money is right. That's job security. You can't pass that up if you're happy with the team. Keep praying bro. Go back to your own board.
TG says that he's working on 'something special' with Zach Parise for tomorrow's blog. He says it's unrelated to a contract and is for the fans. Any ideas?
