2011 playoff line-up

Haven't been following to closely lately, but noticed some players coming back.

Was wondering what the predicted line-up for the playoffs will be? and when other players might be back?

thanks.

Forwards
Cammy - Plekanek - A.Kost
Darche - Gomez - Gionta
Moen - Eller - Halpern (could be a great line for us in the playoffs imo)
Desharnais - White

**Will probably In/Out during the series depends on our D play : Pouliot/Pyatt**

Defense
Gill - Subban
Hammer - Wizz
Spacek - Sopel
Mara

I think Martin will go that way with the recent games

PP1 :
Cammy - Pleky - A.Kost
Subban - Wiz

PP2 :
Darche - Gomez - Gionta
Hammer - Spacek

PK 1 :
Pleky - Moen
Gill - Subban

PK 2:
Gomez - Gionta
Hammer - Sopel

PK 3:
Desharnais - Halpern
Mara - Spacek/Wiz

Injuries :
Patches : don't think he can play before at least the semi-finals and then.. I don't want him to really. Be ready for next season
Gorges : out for the season
Markov : out for the season

thanks. does pacioretty have any chance of coming back? or is he done for sure? what about gorges? any chance?

I think we did a nice job patching up our D and I think they'll be a solid team in their own end. With PK and Wiz, it's nice to see some guys who will be able to move the puck from the backend not to mention Spacek and Sopel performances last year in the playoffs.

Nope don't think so but Spacek coming back from an injury. You can't get Mara out of the lineupe. We need to go 7 Dmen imo in the first game.

Pouliot has been really too fancy down the stretch. I really like the player, his upside is really great but lack of confidence making dumb plays. Too many low % play.
To be effective, he gotta rush the net, lower his shoulder. I don't want fancy dekes in the slot... Shot the puck and drive for a rebound. North-south hockey, thats why Patches had success. Thats why Darche is having success...

White apparently took a puck off the head this morning and hasn't returned to practice.

Going by this morning's practice, Mara and Weber seem to be the odd men out on defense.

Gorges and Markov are out for the season, they won't come back.
Patches... welll no one reallys knows. He skated a little bit this morning but he's not really close I think.

I would prefer for him that he won't play again this year. Carefull unless he's really, but really 100%

Losing White and Mara would be devastating.

Also I think that a third line of Moen - Halpern - Pyatt would be an amazing playoff line. Sort of a half step down from Moen's line when the Ducks won the cup.

Pacioretty is out for Round #1, as per SportsNet's Louie Jean.

D Pairs at Practice:

Gill - Subban
Hamrlik - Wiznewski
Spacek - Sopel
Mara - Weber

Halpern, Markov and Pacioretty skating on a separate ice sheet. Markov we know is done for the year, Pacioretty is out for Round #1, which doesn't bode well for Halpern. Gorges is also done for the year (likely), although mentioned he wanted to start skating in a couple days to the reporters on Twitter. Picard is also out.

No word on forward combinations, but given there are only 12 healthy bodies in Montreal, I'd imagine some variation of:

Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Cammy
Darche - Gomez - Gionta
Pouliot - Eller - Moen
Pyatt - Desharnais - White

He wants to start skating at the end of the week, but he won't be playing in round #1 (or likely at all).

Several Habs beat reporters all said this this morning on Twitter.

Not really. If ANYONE deserves a day off, it's him.

If it had been anything more than that, some reporter would have already ferreted it out.

It'd be retarded to scratch Mara, he's been awesome down the stretch for us and we need him to handle the bigger Boston forwards in front of the net.

I'm hoping they put Gill/PK and Hammer/Spacek as the top 2 pairings with Mara/Wiz as the 3rd pairing. I think those top 2 pairs would make it much more difficult for the B's to score, and Wiz could play a little less 5 on 5 but play 2 full minutes each power play with PK/Mara.

Do either of you remember Brent Sopel?

He's that big guy, kind of like Mara, except more talented, but with a slightly less awesome beard.

I think there is a very good chance.

Pouliot and Pyatt are both on the bubble even with Halpern out with an injury.

Personally i'd go with 7D in Game 1 and scratch Pyatt (assuming Halpern is still out).

I think Desharnais might be the one bench if Halpern come back. Even if he's really good with the puck in the offensive zone he might cost us in the defensive zone. He won't be able to protect the puck in the d-zone against the Bruins. Halpern will be the perfect 4th line center in the PO

Like someone said it earlier, a line with Moen - Halpern - Pyatt could be frustating to play against

But that leaves
Desharnais/Pouliot - Eller - White

For the first game I think we have to do with 7 Dmen.

What have Boston's lines been like lately? I don't want to ask on their board for fear that a 13 year old kid will throw clam chowder at me.

Is this close?

Thomas

Ference-McQuaid
Seidenberg-Kaberle
Chara-Boychuk
