Hagelin signed a two year ELC. Begins next season. He will sign an ATO to play in the AHL. Rangers have twenty nine SPCs for next season. Book keeping stuff.

Hunh. I thought all ELC's were 3 years? Is this because he's a college senior and older than most who sign?

What are the implications of the shorter first contract?

Wow, I'm surprised this transpired so quickly. Congratulations Carl! Welcome to the organization and the Whale's playoff series should be a good chance to get your feet wet!

Liked watching him in the tournament and am looking forward to see if he can crack a roster spot for next year.

Love the young NCAA players.

Hagelin will turn 23 in August which means he signs a 2 year ELC. 18-21 year olds sign 3 year ELCs. 22-23 year olds sign 2 year ELCs. 24 year olds sign a 1 year ELC. Players older than 24 signing their first SPC(like Matt Gilroy and Tommy Grant)aren't part of the entry level system. If the CBA stays the same,Hagelin will be a group III at 27.

Expect this kid to make the team either right out of camp next season, or to be one of the first call-ups from the minors.

Very smart player. Definitely mentally ready for the NHL.

He-hey! Excited to see what he can do at a higher level. Still think he can surprise many people, production-wise that is.

It should be a helluva battle for those left wing slots in the fall.

Sweet! In addition to his hockey acumen, it seems like he has a great attitude and personality as well. The Rangers have been doing a fine job when it comes to drafting players with good character.

Hagelin-Boyle-Prust could be a fun line to watch next year...
