I hope we use the money we save from not signing him wisely. Someone similar to him, but with better offensive upside.
Ruutu is nothing compared to Selänne. Besides, if Jarkko personally wants to go to Jokerit, then why not? Why would you miss a guy doesnt have a IFK-heart? Jokerit seems to have a better offer, it would be stupid not to take it.

Mikko and Tuomo Ruutu have already played in Jokerit. Plus, Kekäläinen has been very helpful for all the three brothers. Wouldnt it be disrespectful to betray a friend?

You are right about the bolded part.

Maybe it fits them better anyways, seeing they were born and raised in Vantaa.

I guess money can buy anything these days (though in this case money seems not have been the issue haha, i'd imagine HIFK to be wealthier than Jokerit.) He would have fit in so well as the replacement for Petrell.

Are you seriously comparing Selänne to Ruutu? I reckon Väänänen would be much better comprasion for Ruutu from Jokerit.

As a Jokerit fan, I really don't know how to feel about this Ruutu rumour. Of course he's a decent player and very experienced, but I'm not sure if he's worth the money they would be paying him. Giving 4 year contract to 36 year old player is just too risky IMO.

They don't have an official farm team, but basically every team in Mestis is more or less a farm team, and Ässät can dumb their players there if they wanna.

Sorry, had to fix it. There's a slight difference between words dumb and dump .

Thanks!

Do you know maybe what is status of Borna Rendulic ? Is he still with Assat juniors ? I see eliteprospects have him listed on senior team, but I seriously doubt that he will play with seniors. Maybe, MAYBE, if he rocks junior league...

Borna isn't really even in the speculations to make the senior team, so it's extremely unlikely that he will make the team. Ässät have a pretty wide roster this upcoming season and even some players that have already established themselves at the SM-Liiga level are going to be healthy-scratches, atleast for some parts of the season. But ofcourse as you mentioned if Borna completely destroys the juniors, then they might give him a loook. I could also see Ässät trying to find him a spot in the Mestis (which shouldn't be to hard) or preferrably play him in Zagreb, as the Austrian league is of way higher caliber of play than the Mestis. Dunno if they want him in Zagreb though, I dont think he made a strong case of himself when he played some games there the previous season..?

Well, your answer is pretty much what I expected to be

Last season Rendulic played ok for Medvescak, despite his stats are not so good, but EBEL league is much more closer to SM-Liiga than Mestis (as you said as well), so it wasn't for expect that he puts some crazy numbers, especially as he joined later in the season and havent seen much PP time. Medvescak has experienced team (Frank Banham- ring a bell ? ) and even for the best Croatian prospects (and Rendulic is one of them) it is hard to get much of ice time.

I think Rendulic is much closer to get on loan in some Mestis team than returning to Zagreb. Medvescak roster is more - less set for this upcoming season, there are some spots left to fill 4th line duties, but I think it is better for Rendulic to play in Mestis than playing 5-6 minutes per game in EBEL. That could seriously hurt his development.

Definately so. Ideal for him would be a scoring line role in some Mestis team. It would have to be on some bottom feeder team, but still, as you mentioned that would be a better option than playing some 5-6 mins per game in a checking line.

And yup, I think every SM-Liiga fan remembers Banham, sick goal scoring touch.

Stephen Dixon's tryout ended and he couldn't get a contract with Dynamo Minsk says Hokej.cz.

About the same time in a Ässät-forum they are saying that Ässät will have a briefing on Thursday.

Mika Toivola showed interest in Dixon also when he worked in Pelicans.

Not quite what you Ässät fans expected?

At least he shouldn't be very expensive guy.

Hard to say. Probably not, atleast from the first look.

Still... he's 23, a righty, big and aggresive. Some kind of injuries, but managed to rack up 29 points in half a season in the ahl so who knows.

We will see if he even comes to Ässät.

Yeah the only questionmarks are the coaching and goaltending, but being outside of the top-6 in the regular season would be a dissapointment.

The system seems to be the same as last season, but with a bit more balls so hopefully we will shine even after the playoffs.
