only real decision to make was conner over comrie, which isn't surprising. that third line has been serviceable as of late.
I was going to say... Duppers-Talbot-Conner have a chance to really do well if they can continue to gel. They are finding chemistry. It's our most important line, in my opinion, for this series. They need to create energy and at least come up with one timely goal.

I'd keep Conner over Comrie in this case because of the speed on the forecheck. With one of their defenders so far back, Comrie doesn't give us as much as Conner. Conner has to get there fast and make sure he makes the defense force the outlet pass.

I agree with you. If this line can shine, I think it dictates how well the team will do in this series. Our bottom 6 guys need to perform well, and lately they have.

That 2nd line has got to come together. If they don't it might be time to split up Kovalev and Neal. It can't get any worse.

Neal Talbot Dupuis could probably keep up the same hustle and forecheck while bringing more offense.

But then who do you put with Letestu and Kovalev that would help them have speed or create space? You could come up with some slower version with all 3 having good hands, with Comrie or Asham?
Maybe Tangradi?

I really dont know. Right now Im not picky, Id be happy to have just Jeffrey.

That line is probably ideal to get Neal going but like you said it doesn't make much sense for Letestu and Kovalev.

Unless we decided to do something like this:

Neal - Letestu - Conner
Kunitz - Staal - Kennedy
Dupuis - Talbot - Kovalev
Rupp - Adams - Asham

This would bring back the chemistry of Letestu and Conner. Hopefully Conner's speed could open up space for Neal. Kovalev would probably have a hard time keeping up with the speed of Dupuis/Talbot but they often pull up on a rush anyways and pass to the late man. At this point if Neal/Letestu/Kovalev doesn't get going, it's at least worth a try.

Yeah that would be worth a try.
Or a variation of that where we keep Letestu and Kovalev together and give them Connor to get to loose pucks or Asham/Tangradi to forecheck.

This does not seem like the time to be experimenting though unfortunatly.

I don't know about having Conner and Letestu having 1st line minutes in their first playoff games/series.

It wouldn't really be 1st line minutes per say. I would consider the Staal line the 1st line and the shut down line... We will probably be riding Staal for 22+ minutes a game.

LOL Agreed.
I dont know about Connor getting very many minutes at all.
Asham returning to last season's playoff form would be a huge blessing.

If the new KSK line HAS to be broken up maybe:
Neal Staal Kennedy-maybe they can keep similar chemistry to KSK and Kennedy can look to set Neal up
Kunitz Letestu Kovalev-gives them someone to forecheck, go to the net and make plays

Plus Asham might give a trailer with a decent shot for Talbot and Dupuis.

Anyway we'll just have to wait and see!

GO PENS and great GDT Big! Your random knowledge never ceases to astound me.

I'm actually pretty comfortable with the lines they rolled in the morning skate...

Kunitz-Staal-Kennedy
Neal-Letestu-Kovalev
Dupuis-Talbot-Conner
Rupp-Adams-Asham

I can't see them shifting lines too drastically unless they are really struggling.

Do we know who the odd D-man out is?

I agree with those lines...

Neal - Staal - Kennedy
Kunitz - Letestu - Kovalev
Conner - Talbot - Dupuis
Rupp - Adams - Asham

I just hate having Neal and Kovalev on the same line. They have shown no chemistry together at all, and neither are really scoring. It would be better to shake some things up. It can't get any worse really...

Thinking about a good start and a big win tonight in hopes of affecting both teams' confidence levels in opposite directions.
