CBC Taking for everything that is not Habs: General discussion thread

Seriously it really gets me when CBC is obviously cheering for Boston in this series. I wish people talked more about this. Its our freaking taxes that is paying crappy coverage like CBC's. Like seriously why do they even bother putting Cherry on the air when he has absolutly nothing good to say about the habs...why do i need that clown, indirectly bashing my fav canadian team. Why do i even need people commenting the bruins and never the habs. I mean CBC should be doing RDS job but better and in english. Im french it has nothing to do with the language I just find RDS really really sucks and i find that they are very amaters.

I just wish people comment on this, i need to feel im not the only one whos thinking the same thing... :/

Yeah I feel the same way I'm sick of writing angry emails about it. They always hire pro leafs and bruins **********. Seriously who in their right mind hires Healey, Hrudey, Stock and Milbury to talk hockey. TSN is the same way these so called experts time and time again doubt the Habs year after year only to be wrong. On the plus side it makes the Habs victories more enjoyable.

I don't really care anymore but I'm not exposed to CBC's broadcasts as much either. I had to watch Versus and they are not as bad but still biased. Keith Jones is biased and his overall hockey knowledge is lacking.

Having said that with everything that's happened this year against Boston, the Habs' players seem extra motivated to prove EVERYONE wrong. Ultimately winning the Stanley Cup would obviously accomplish that and I don't know if they are capable. As a fan, I feel badly doubting them. But I think they've shown a great amount of courage in these first two games and as a fan I totally appreciate their effort.

The players' interviews are quite interesting. It's almost like they know everything's that been said about them. They know there are a bunch of doubters and they just don't feel like giving them the time of day or anything for the media to chew on and bring up to the Bruins. It's been quite interesting to watch the interviews actually. PK's interview with Darren Eliot was hilarious. Eliot looked dumbfounded and like he wanted to burst out laughing at the same time.

you know what really pisses me off about CBC getting the Habs playoff games?
the fact that all year CBC has "hockey night in toronto" every ******* saturday night. It doesnt matter what other games are happening, it could be a Habs VS Senators game going on, they will play show the leafs vs atlanta (in atlanta) every friggin time.

so why should a network that only shows Habs games when they VS the leafs on saturdays, get to reap the financial rewards from the Habs who they have ignored all damn season?. The CBC put thier eggs in the Toronto basket, let them deal with it (hell they even moved some west coast games to mid afternoon so leafs can be on at 7 in the east).

I have seen more habs games (not just vs toronto) on TSN (and of course my RDS which gets em all, but my french sucks), so if TSN put more stock into Montreal games than CBC did, why shoudlnt they have first crack at showing thier games?

all year I have heard CBC guys say the Habs wont make the playoffs. ****** em I say

rant over

I couldn't care less about that station, I hate them and until they don't get rid of Cherry I'll never watch anymore. Guy is really a big moron. I was happy last year when TSN got the Habs vs Washington, CBC lost big time and was hoping for the same thing this year. Screw them

Is there anything more pathetic than the drug and alcohol advertising on every segment within HNIC? Viagra, Crown Royal and the best.. Kelsey's sponsoring Peter The Puck.

Lol at people getting so worked up by that. Habs bias is not better than having a Bruins bias. Personally I don't think it's that bad but then again I always mute the TV between periods.

I actually like the fact that these so-called experts are constantly so wrong about our team. They're living in the 70s still while habs management after the Gainey era learned its lesson and now the Gainey-Gauthier era is building a team for the 21st century not the 1970s and guys like McGuire simply can't handle it.

They don't know how to deal with the fact that our apparently "small, soft team" can beat the piss out of all their "monsters".

At the start of the year they had pegged Ottawa ahead of us. I remember right when I saw that my jaw dropped, I immediately told a friend not only would we be better than Ottawa but that Ottawa wouldn't even make the playoffs. I knew adding Gonchar in over Volchenkov was a piss poor move, I knew Gonchar was steadily declining because had he not been, his production would've gone up since joining the pens, not stayed the same. Then move him to a team he has no chemistry with that is far worse and boom, you have a failure of Gonchar and the team.

I remember hearing it was the "best signing of the off season" and nearly choking. I knew this signing would come back to haunt them and I knew Montreal would at least be a playoff team and they wouldn't be. So funny how these so called analysts are wrong and the "homer Canadiens fans" are right. They just can't tolerate the fact that we're better analysts then they are. I didn't think the habs would make it because they're my team, I thought they'd make it cause they were a good team.

Ottawa had too many players on the decline, bad team make-up, the departure of Heatley really settling in, all sorts of obvious reasons why they wouldn't succeed. Sure enough they sucked, and yet these so-called experts pegged them to be 1 spot ahead of us. I just knew given all the other solid teams in the east that only two teams in our division would make it, and I knew for sure it was going to be Boston and Montreal.

I always enjoy the "a la une" segment on RDS with Francois Gagnon from la Presse.

its during the first intermission and its so much better than "coaches corner".

So, yes.. the victim is the one who should clear Chara's name so nothing silly happens to him. Huh? You can't make this stuff up folks, he has been saying it all week.
nothing wrong with what marek said at all, chara publicly wronged max, he supposedly tried to get in contact with max who, at the time, ignored him (as is his right) but they did eventually talk in a very much private setting. Given the vitriol and hate surrounding the play and the passion/hatred it flamed (politicians/cops etc) the best thing for all parties involved and for the game is for pacioretty to come out and deflect some heat away chara so things dont get REALLY ugly (ie. the brawl in detroit (nba) level of ugly). Pacioretty doesnt need to completely absolve the guy, they dont need to have a "beer summit" with chara, they dont need to kiss and make up or any of that stuff, just acknowledge the fact that he and Z cordially discussed the issue and it was behind them both and that he apologized for the injury, etc. Anything that comes from Max is better then letting the situation fester and potentially become very ugly, very fast.

That's a pretty close minded point of view, cause drugs and alcohol in society are of no relevance

Oh well, don't wonder why the world is such a ****ed up place.

CBC habs Coverage - Ridiculously poor?

What a change from RDS. I can't believe how mediocre CBC habs coverage is. Rather then a wall of text, I'm going to list my frustrations

1) Way too many commercials in the intermission. Out of 17 minutes, 12-13 minutes are commercials. They are just milking it as much as possible.

2) Bob Cole is awful. He's boring, repetitive, and he doesn't appear to like the Habs at all. Does anyone actually like him?

3) The intermission is completely irrelevant to the habs game in progress.

4) If it wasn't for the secondary color guys that occasionally bring in some insight, you might as well mute the TV.

Bob Cole comes off to me as neutral or sympathetic to the Habs... His mistakes are getting worse though. He'll mix up players for complete shifts. He makes up new names for players. He'll mix up who wins faceoffs, why the ref whistles...

I thought this was gonna be another my tax dollars shouldn't be paying for Bruins bias thread but I agree with your complaints 100%, it's like Cherry knows he shouldn't cheer for the Bruins, so everytime he is on they talk about ompletely irrelevant stuff, I'd rather laugh listening to him talk about everything right the Bruins do.

Just curious, and this may be a question with a rather obvious answer, but does CBC broadcast in French? They broadcast in a lot of other languages but have never heard anything about them broadcasting in French.

SRC is the french CBC. They don't broadcast Hockey anymore. (they used to a few years ago on Saturdays) but RDS now has the exclusivity on French TV broadcasting for all the games.

Which means, in my many cases, Hockey isn't free anymore and you need to pay satellite or cable to watch (unless you want to suffer with CBC).

I couldn't believe the amount of whining about dives by Bruins fans throughout the entire series, but now I just saw highlights of game 7 on TSN with announcers who have to be Bruins colour commentators and...holy crap.

On Hamrlik before the Bruins' first goal:

Announcer: "And Hamrlik's goes down, trying to draw a call..."

Announcer: "THEY SCORE!!! HE DOVE ONE TIME TOO MANY!!!"
