The Rangers never tested the kid. You've got Gaborik giving him a Gomez, and Micheletti going wild like it was some awesome save.

Not blaming Stall. He had almost 30 minutes of ice time, it was just an untimely mistake.

Where was Gaborik this game? Why did Gilroy get our lone goal, where was our offense?

While the first Caps goal sucked, and I think could've been whistled dead before it went in, we can't let that get us down. One goal away from the win, when the Caps are thinking they'll be able to steam right through this series.

No when it DID happen we complained the same play against us and there would likely be no whistle.

Marc Staal was a ****ing horse tonight. He's going to play 30+ in ANY GAME IN THE PLAYOFFS that goes to OT as a 24 year old.

I'm upset about the loss but not mad at the team. We played a hell of a game after the first and were gassed in the OT, but guess what? So were the Caps. There's no "steam rolling" going on in this series.

Hard loss, feel great about this team. Give me Brad Richards and THEN let's see how the Caps bandwagoners like to play us.

Steve, weren't you grumbling for a veteran to play 20 minutes a night?

McCabe: over 20 minutes.

They're not easy to aquire, but definitely possible. Within the last two years we've had legitimate shots at three elite talents in Heatley, Kovalchuk, and Richards, though we were honestly smart not to trade for Richards and wait for the summer. Regardless that's still three top of the line first liners that were available to us.

Actually, faceoffs were dead even in regulation.

But yeah, in OT it was all Caps.

Six pages of Staal bashing, when the guy makes one mistake all night...

The Caps goal was a legit goal. It was across the line before the hacking and Caps BS. Now, was the intent to blow the whistle? No idea, but that's not why they supposedly reviewed it. While it was a legit goal, the refs used the crutch of replay, rather than make a definitive call on the ice.

Maybe Staal and Girardi would have to play 35 minutes if McCabe weren't so damn useless that Torts can't put him out there in OT. If Zuccarello is such a defensive liability, why isn't Avery dressed?

The talent differential is evident. Eventually, the team that was able to coast a bit at the end of the season eventually wore down the team that skated 9 forwards and 5 defensemen in OT that had basically gassed itself to get into the playoffs.

3)Our offense is a neverending grinding cycle behind the net, until we turn the puck over, if we even get that far. Most of the time, we dump it and change lines.

4)The opposing goalie is rarely tested, almost never with a screen or any traffic.

5)The defense implodes way too often. Way too many quality scoring chances.

Too many holes to fill.
1) I agree, that is/was definitely a problem

2) The PP, despite not scoring tonight, was a bright spot in my opinion, they really set up well tonight.

3-4) That is what Gaborik is for, he got the puck into the zone, and was able to move it laterally up the side boards, while waiting for a passing option in the slot. He did that very well tonight, but nobody could get his passes on their stick. Gabby was excellent tonight, but what he did, is a guy like Richard's job, Gabby should be the one skating into the slot waiting for a one timer, but nobody else could do what Gabby did tonight.

5) Meh

I don't know what everyone is looking at. The replay clearly showed two Rangers in the zone with Staal.

Agreed in regards to Gaborik. Outside of the games where he feasted on bottom-feeder teams, this was the beat game I saw him play all season. Was strong in all zones, with and without the pick.

The goal the Capitals scored was fine. A bit fortuitous that the whistle didn't blow, but far from the travesty some are suggesting.

Can't blame Staal either. He played a terrific game, lots of minutes and just made one mistake.

We didn't have any business winning that game. The Caps were the better team. Regroup and win Friday. We're still okay here guys.

Avery will be in game 2, as he should be. Staal played a great game...too bad. The kid played almost 35 minutes, and was solid for the most part.

Gabby had the game on his stick...just needed to lift that sucker.

I think we walk out of DC with a win on Friday night.

Zuccorello should be there he is part of the future and he was fine, but Christensen should not be there, his only use is in shootouts.

our best forechecker callahan is out so what do we do? insert a soft european player in the line-up. helllloooo torts stop being so damn immature and put a great forechecker in the line up in avery who will provide energy in his limited minutes rather than be a ghost/liability
