My favorite moment last season for the Sabres was when we were down 3-0 late in the 2nd to the Toronto Maple Leafs and ended up winning 6-4. Other great ones were when we beat the Leafs 5-1 with Miro's phone call, and another was the 21 goals in 3 games. I was in Boston Pizza, and when i got there the Kings had a 3-1 lead, but when I looked up again it said 8-3 Buffalo. Truely incredible...I wish i could of seen the 7-2 win against Atlanta, with Satan's 4 goals.
I agree with every game you mentioned, especially the Atlanta one.I was there and I had some decent tix.Seeing the intensity of the game was surprising,I think we have a pretty good rivalry with Atlanta.
Those were all great moments, but I have a few others that are overlooked:
Back to back wins over the Rangers in late January - put the Sabres from the outside looking in to a decent contender for the 8th seed. Buffalo jumped from 11th to 9th in 2 days.
6-0 win in Washington game after trade deadline - really showed some hope they could make another late run after a bad stretch at a crucial time.
4-3 OT comeback win over Atlanta (3/17) - down 3-1 late in the 3rd period, and after 5 minutes of a 7 minute powerplay had already expired, Adam Mair and Jochen Hecht scored late goals to tie it up, and Derek Roy scored early in overtime. Coupled with a Panthers 6-4 win over the Isles, it gave the Sabres a little extra hope late in the season.
Sabres trash Blue Jackets 6-0 at home - really what made an exciting last week of the season possible, a loss might have eliminated the Sabres on the spot, but with the help of a scoring bonanza at HSBC Arena, Buffalo moved within 3 points of 8th with 3 games remaining.
I loved seeing Brad Brown run over Gary Roberts vs. the Leafs....that was a rare sight. There are not many people that can lay out Roberts the way Brown did, and Brown was very new to the team so it was very nice to see...for once.
Personally I'm a fan of Chris Drury scoring the game winner with 2:30 to go in Colorado to wrap up a 4-2 west coast trip.
Sabres beating Florida 4-3 in November after trailing 3-0 at 17:09 of the second. Only game I made it to this year. Noronen got pulled after the first two goals (though he really wasn't that bad), the place went nuts when Briere tied it and even nuts-er when Pyatt scored the winner a minute later.
In all honest though Noronen wasn't really the problem in that game. I don't remember the first goal against him all that well but the second (Kolnik) was the result of an absolutely horrendous turnover at the blue line by Kalinin. Dmitri literally spun himself in a complete circle then tripped and fell on his face giving Kolnik a breakaway. It would've been funny if it hadn't resulted in a goal. Let me put it this way, I don't think Biron played any better in that game than Noronen and if my memory serves Marty lost the next night. My guess, and of course you can't really know for sure, was Ruff did it to wake the team up and it worked. Unfortunately it didn't start working until 25 minutes later though it was enough.
