Yeah but if his nervousness goes the wrong way and he gets shelled, then pulled, I will quickly get into panic mode. And not just for the game, but for the entire series.
Don't worry. Michael Leighton will come in and save the day.
Seriously though -- I'd be more concerned if he wasn't nervous. Cockiness will get it shoved where the sun doesn't shine. Everyone is a bit nervous going into game 1. Or as Lee Trevino put it, "everyone leaks oil... the good ones control the flow".
Frankly I'd really like to see the Sabres get a few shots on goal early in the game so that Bob gets in the game. I do not want to see him go a few minutes without being involved.

I'd like to see the Flyers score two goals in the first 46 seconds. That's a lead they couldn't cough up, even if Bob was nervous.

Do you ever not worry about the extreme? As cold blooded killers, us Flyers fans shouldn't be nervous.
Cannot blame that one on Bobrovsky, he did his job. Is this going to be Cechmanek II?
Certainly not going to blame a game on the goalie when the team gets shutout, but that was a Leighton-esque rebound that he gave up that led to the Sabres lone goal. He has to kick that one to the side, not right in front.

Or maybe the defense shouldn't have left a man uncontested in the slot...

He'd probably like another crack at it, but that was a perfectly placed shot to create the rebound that it did.
This is a joke right ? To make an issue out of an NHL goalie having butterflies before a big game is laughable to me....Some of the greatest goalies in the history of this game have been known to vomit before EVERY game, whether playoff or regular season.....Nerves make a netminder quicker and more alert, if you have ever been in a war zone you would know EXACTLY what i am saying..Bob played well Thursday, as did miller, and they both had butterflies before the game, you can bet on that.

My dad always told me that Bernie drank before games because the butterflies were so bad, that was the only way to quell them...dunno if it's true, but back then I can see it. Is there anyone who can anyone confirm/deny that?
