Twas the night before playoffs and all through the house,
I was still stirring, awake on the couch.
Rockin the land in NHL 11,
with Kopi in hand there would be no game 7
With San Jose done, that would be all.
To the second round, where the 'Nucks would soon fall.
The Sedins who can score, and pass alike...
Though this time J.Williams would bring the first strike.
A great gritty series would come down to this,
A game 7 so brilliant that you dont want to miss.
While Kesler and Brown take turns making dives,
Jonathan Quick would save the Kings lives.
With 3 minutes left Poni trips a Canuck,
The Kings on the PK and my nerves run amuck.
With a will that is strong, and in honor of the Crown,
Though it seemed like so long, JQ shut them down.
Deep in OT, and with just minutes left,
We would avenge last years playoff death.
With the puck in the corner, and Drew in the slot,
Zues gets him the puck, and Drew gets the shot.
There would be no hail, nor blast from a horn,
Though the fans would all wail, and the Green men would mourn.
We're loving the fun, that the Kings are now strong.
With the whale hunting done, The Kings would move on.
Now my story grows long, but it has some good news,
Though Detroit may be red, theyre singin the blues.
Now for the Finals, a Stanley Cup match,
The Kings play the Caps, the best of the batch.
With Ovie and Semin, the offense looks mean,
But the Kings would soon make them an envious green.
A hat trick from Kopi, and some big hits from Jack,
And an OT goal helps Smyth pick up the slack.
Up 3 to 2 going back to LA,
A Stanley parade is soon on the way.
Zues saves the day with a play oh so clutch,
and pops in the winner for our first Stanley Cup.
Brown holds the cup, and passes it on,
while Conn Smythe is presented to Kopi the Strong.
Get ready Figeroua, for a Champions parade,
Not for the Lakers, but the KINGS of LA
Though it may not be poetically solid, I felt inspired! Its playoff time once again!
And just for fond memories:
This will always be extra special to me, it was the first Kings game I ever saw.
