Pants (ICE)

What type of pants do u suggest me getting for tryouts and eventually the season. I'm a defensive foward who blocks a lot of shots so I need good padding. I'm 14 and just trying out for highschool JV. Maybe Travel but haven't made any commitments yet.

I second the 9k's. The mobility and protection are the best I have had.

2nd the tackla 9000's or ccm u+09. those ccms are bulletproof...not sure on durability though.

I have the ccm v12s and they have been very durable over the past year or so.

I've always done Tacklas but just switched to Reebok this season and i prefer these now. The 7k is really all you need as the 9ks and higher have some features you do not necessarily need.

All preference though i suggest you try some on and make your own decision.

Since you're probably still growing, I'd go with the Reebok 7k's to save some money versus the Tacklas.

I'm a big fan of CCM pants, I am still wearing a pear of Pro Tacks from a few years back, but it looks like the new U+ Pro's look to be pretty similar, still a top of the line pant, will offer good protection and mobility.

I would recommend going to a well established Hockey Retailer. Many times they can get you light pants, with good padding similar to what the pros wear for not much more than what you will see on the shelf. Once you have a light pair of good pants...you will feel like your flying (and they tend to not be as hot)

If you can find 'em, your search should begin and end with Tackla pro 5000's.

They are great pants, I had my teams covers on them too until recently so now that they are out of the shell they look like brand new. Gotta love it, great protection, and they are really comfortable.

I would go with the 7K's. You'll outgrow them in a few years and they give good protection. They're not that expensive so when you need to upgrade you wont feel like you wasted a ton of cash.
