Lots of confidence in here. I expect the Caps to win, but I don't expect a blow out. I'm expecting a one goal game again.

Run Lundy, run Lundy, run Lundy. Also, contain Gaborik, you won't ever fully shut him down because of his speed, just contain him though. Alzner/74 played him well last game.

He beat the Caps in the 2008 series. Hot goalie, version 1.

confidence...laugh. this game will probably go straight to current script. 0-0 after one. if the caps don't score by halfway the thread will start to get nervous and angry. if the rangers score first, the room will start yelling and calling for firings. then the caps win anyway.

i expect 1-0 in regulation or 2-1 in OT

In the other series, I just dont see how Buffalo is going to weather the pressure of that deep and relentless Philadelphia offence for three more games. Buffalo's defence isnt particularly good, and they have only one line that can score, thats it. Throw Pronger into the mix, and I see Philly prevailing in that one (hopefully exhausted and beat up).
Probably more appropriate for a different thread, but whatever.

People seem to forget that Stafford scored 31 in only 62 games this year. He played with Ennis and Boyes last night. It was the Gerbe/Gaustad/Kaleta line that scored last night. The Sabres have a lot more scoring depth than people are giving them credit for. Especially if Roy can come back.

Pretty decent back-up goalie != Henrik Lundqvist. Henrik is the biggest weapon the Rangers have, and if he's neutralized it's a huge plus for the Capitals. Even if their replacement isn't half bad, it's not another Lundqvist.

I can think of one instance where an extra goal would've helped...

What about Chad Johnson though? Is Biron back at any point this postseason?

The main board GDT post-scrubbing has begun. That thread just lost a whole page of length.

So far they have deleted all the Caps posters responding to Puckface NYR but all his posts are still there. So it's almost like he is having a conversation with himself, which is even more humorous than before.

You know what would be really gratifying? A sweep.

Put those pretentious New York fans in their place.

What is wrong with Rangers fans? Something is wrong there.

Anyway, I expect another close game like we have seen all season. If the Caps win, I expect Rangers fans to still consider the Rangers a better team, complain about reffing, and say we got lucky.

So just win!

You know..a while ago I read this book called The Little Black Book of Vegas before one of my trips out there.

One part about betting the author specifically mentioned that if you are gonna bet on a game "ALWAYS bet against New York"

He says New Yorkers are extremely brash and unrealistic and always bet on their team regardless so the spread usually favors those who bet against them.

Caps could really use a non 7 game series. A win tonight would be a big step in that direction.

A sweep would be great, obviously. I'd be content with a 5-6 game win.

No team has won the Cup the last 20 years going 7 in the 1st round. The last three years show why. Too many things can happen. Foot->Pedal.

i think we would all be content if they won the series and went to the next round. i'd be happier if it was less then 7 games. i am not going to start getting po'd at a game 7 before the game if there is one.

Amen to that. I'm not one to get too up or too down based on the result of Game 1 so I've largely held my emotions in check so far. But a win tonight gets them closer to a first round series that goes < 7 games and that would be huge for this team if they're planning on a deep run.
