Funny, I don't feel that Price robbed this game at all. He was very good but the defense was superb. Price saw every shot easily and while the Bruins did have puck possession a lot, they didn't generate a lot of quality scoring chances.
part of the second period wasnt good but I thought the Canadiens were ok in the 1st and 3rd. How many shot from in close did Price face tonight?
To those who say Boston didn't have great chances, I would say
1) we played very well defensively ONCE caught in our zone
2) they didn't exactly make great plays, i.e. unforced errors
So I think we need to keep up our defensive play but perhaps play a little more out of our zone rather than a complete shutdown. we're lucky we had that one goal to "rely" on until late in the game, but I hope we can get that much presence too. They got chances. Price was there, making it look easy when I think a lot of other goalies would have let way more shots in. Marchand had a clear breakaway. Chara had how many shots and despite what people say, it was enough traffic to cause a goalie some trouble.
The two guys who I routinely support played great games: Gomez and Pyatt. All in all I doubt JM will just use the same strategy. Bruins will adjust and so must we. PK was terrific (guy and kill).
SOOOO glad AK came back after that scare. Great defensive play by him, really helped get possession and the puck out. Hopefully we'll get to see some offense from Cammy. Darche played his heart out too.
Jesus ****ing Price, Labatt Blues for everyone. Welcome back playoff hockey!! Well well well Bruins, apparently we ran into a brick wall...surprised??? Pfff, not I. MVPrice doesn't ever surprise me. I only wanted a split but now that we won the first gm...is 2-0 too much to ask?? haha
QUick points: Whatever happens, anyone want to argue that Martin is a bad coach or doesn't have his players prepared?
Or that Gomez doesn't have playoff value?
Or that what we need are fewer small players like Gionta, and more tough, slow, sandpapery whatevers?
Note To Gary Bettman: Do you see what Chara did at the end of the game? Do you grasp now the kind of dirty intent-to-injure player he indisputably is? Or do you still have your head neatly up yours, or the Bruins, rear-end?
I disagree with the title.
Price made key saves when we needed him to, nothing new here. We played a perfect road game. Smart positionally, smart forecheck, patient, attacked at the proper time, absolutely brilliant at keeping the front of the net cleared, limiting shots to the outside, getting in shooting lanes and blocking shots.
This was not a steal by the goalie, not at all, and if Plekanec scored on at least two of his open nets, it would have been a pure clinic.
The Habs showed tonight exactly why I always felt nobody would want to face us in the POs. We are an extremely frustrating team to play against. What makes it even more frustrating to other teams is that we don't do this from being a big physical team. We are a very smart hockey team.
I know this is only one game, but it is the same way we played last year except even better.
