The First Win is Tasty.

The Good

- Miller in the first and second and third. Best player was best.
- Killing the five-on-three
- Timmy at the dot. Who knew??
- Gerbe-Gaustad-Kaleta
- MAG with some solid D and getting it to the net on the first goal. He deserves to stay in.
- Shot blocking
- Physical play? Yeah, they have that too.
- Weber. What a tank.

The Bad

- Diving by the Flyers.
- Offside calls. What the hell guys. Stay onside.
- Didn't dig Grier with two plays to the middle at the wall that immediately broke back the other way.

The Ugly

- Montador was West Coast tonight.
- Ennis and his too-fine passing. Get ugly Tyler. You have to.
- What a semi-healthy Pronger does to the Sabres scoring chances if they can shutdown VCP and EBS so well.
- The officiating was just a freaking joke.

Miller. Miller. Goose.

Ennis/Stafford/Boyes needs to be gone. Broken up. What a cluster**** that line is.

And I don't care if Sekera needs to be wheeled out there. Monty, say goodbye.

I think the constant interference, holding, and hooking helped them contain those two lines. Hopefully we get better reffing going forward. Tonight was beyond awful...

Weber-MAG were nasty, Kaleta did what he had to do, and Miller is the ****ing man.

I didnt realize that when the Flyers said they were going to be physical: they meant physical comedy with all their ****ing diving all over the place.

G: Miller -- HUGE
Weber- steady and Rugged
Goose was all over the ice
Kaleta with a big game (please stay healthy)
Blocked shots
D zone coverage for the most part- pretty solid

B- Monty
ShaMu
scoring chances
The calls and non calls- lol

The Awesome- winning baby!

Choke on that big fat goose egg, Philly.

Great:
Miller shutout.
Kaleta diceroll. I'm sure some heads exploded with that goal.

Bad:
Lots of odd-man rushes given up.
Tons of scoring chances, shots, and pressure for the Flyers.
Reffing was mediocre, at best.

Ugly:
Montador
Sabres playing scared for a lot of this game. Hopefully they got the nerves out of the way and can play with more focus Saturday.

Defense looked like 6 youthful Jay McKees. Impressive.

Although I do miss the silliness of the fire Ruff threads..

Yeah, but we don't know if that's going to be the case. This might be how things are getting called -- we could hope they at least swallow the pea in both directions going forward rather than just in one direction.

I liked the hitting from Grier tonight -- those sort of things wear guys out over the course of a series. Syvret's mom felt that one check...

Hopefully, our top 6 can be better next game and be less fancy and we can get better 1st passes and fewer penalties next game. Glad we got the win. Hopefully, our (improved) play can offset Pronger's return.

Ennis was too fancy with the cross ice passes in the o-zone but at least he's back-checking now.

What a great game.

G: Inviting over my friend from Philly, a Flyers fan. Sabres are 3-0 when he watches in my house.
B: Uh.
U: Nope.

Miller says what Goaltending controversy!?!?!?!

You guys who are saying what will Pronger do etc etc, well this Philly team is already diving *****es who interfere, hold and hook and get away with it, so it will be same old same old.

The gritty guys (Grier,Kaleta,Goose,Weber,Nieds,McCormick) did their job and got us the win!!

Gotta see more from our top six. We were hemmed in our own zone for too long.

Goaltending was the difference. Miller kept us in it, Bob gave up a huge rebound that lead to a goal against.

Goose had a huge game tonight, as well.

Monty - get your **** together. Now.

Oh, and minimalist GDTs - now do you believe?

Hopefully some guys stop holding on to their sticks so tight, we had a lot of problems corralling pretty normal passes, finding pucks in sticks, and not fanning.

Hopefully everybody settles down adn realizes this is still just hockey

Home ice advantage is now ours.

Road win. On the playoffs. Not pretty, but I'll take it.

We're gonna need our top 6 though to generate offense, not just play not to make mistakes.

Quick hits:

Good:

I am shocked by the quantity and quality of minutes fed to Weber and Grags and what they did with them, they along with Myers and Butler were the foundation of the win
Ruff for recognizing that Weber and Grags were ON and limiting Montaderp in the 3rd
Kaleta for the goal
Kaleta, Grier, Gaustad and Weber were devastating physically
Ennis owning Richards multiple times on one shift, Selke this
Oh yeah, that Miller guy

Bad:

Refs that don't know what interference is

Ugly:

Hartnell's skating
Montaderp's derping
