Indeed.

Apparently now that Skinner's Hurricanes are done for the year, they've decided to do some community service and volunteer to be skating coaches for the flyers.

Cripes I hate divers. I don't care what sweater you're wearing, just stay on your damn feet.

Oh, and minimalist GDTs - now do you believe?
Now do you believe, now do you believe, these GDTs are good, scary good, and they're on their way to the main board for game 3!!!

G - the win, the shutout, taking home ice

B - won by only a bad rebound, we couldn't keep sustained pressure in their end. Need to find a way to exploit the Flyers D.

U - Laviolette. Our PP.

G:
Miller.
and not just Miller, but the vezina winning, Olympic Miller.

Shot blocking. I feel like this helped miller a ton, knowing you can play the shooter because your defense has the pass with a check or a block is HUGE.

MAG.

the bottom 6.

the PK. We owned that ****.
B:
top 6. Mostly due to the flyers being able to hold/interfere

U:
Refs. Atleast 3 no-calls on the sabres, and a few questionable ones within the last 2 mins.
The flyers 6 on 5. Did they even get a shot on net?

Hopefully now that they got the guaranteed split they'll loosen up for the next game.

But give them credit--I think there was what, one 2-on-1 they gave up?

G:
+ Miller
+ Gerbe/Goose/Kaleta as a line and individually
+ Penalty Killing
+ Physical Play
+ Stole home ice with the possibility of stealing another game.
+ The possibility of key players such as Sekera, Leopold, and Hecht returning if the series goes long. Stealing home ice puts them in a position to take the series long if they aren't able to get the wins in the next few games.

B:
+ Officiating was crappy and mostly to Buffalo's disadvantage. They bought the dives and swallowed their whistles on all manner of interference plays
+ Montador and Morrison need to be replaced in the line-up as soon as possible

U:
+ Philly fans thinking the Flyers were Santa Claus

Good:
- Gerbe-Gaustad-Kaleta
- Miller
- Gragnani
- Butler
- Connolly
- team defense
- PK

Bad:
- Monty, although he got better towards the end
- Reffing was kinda meh... Some weak calls early on (most of them going against us) and then towards the end nothing gets called anymore.
- shot selection on offense
- PP

Ugly:
-

What now? Somebody blaming Miller for not giving up -1 goal. Or for being held scoreless for an 83rd straight game?

The Good
-WIIIIIIIIIIN
-Miller Time!
-Gerbe-Gaustad-Kaleta...Without a doubt their best line tonight
-Nieds-McCormick-Grier...Solid. Grier with some highlight-reel hits.
-Gragnani. Incredible game tonight, always the smart short break-out pass to his teammate for an easy clear, or a smart clear. The only d-man who didn't seem to have trouble with Philly's forecheck.
-Butler. Carried his pairing and showed his nasty side. Great game.
-Weber-ShaMo...Solid and ShaMo was surprisingly good
-PK was fantastic.
-Connolly on the dot
-Bottom lines answering the physical play

The Bad
-Monty, you're not a forward. Horrible pinches, jumping into the rush the wrong time...
-Myers had more shadow than light today. Not a good game.
-Vanek-Connolly-Pominville...Invisible offensively
-Ennis-Boyes-Stafford...Invisible overall. Atleast Stafford didn't commit dumb turnovers. Actually Stafford doesn't belong into Good or Bad. The two others however...
-13 giveaways. That's 13 too many.

The Ugly
-James van Riemsdive
-Monty in the first half. Horrific performance.

Awards:
Hits 40-36 Flyers, Nodl had 6 while Myers, Grier, and Kaleta had 5 each.

few more uglys:

Flyers looked like 2 year olds out there on their skates for the first time a few times. A swift breeze would knock them over.

Miller not the first star? what a joke. Hope miller takes that personally.

Had the game streaming on my computer. Just took a screenshot of it while it was going on.

Definitely a crock of ****, but really - he'll take the win, and the diving losers can have the star. Enjoy the consolation prize kids.

If they want, they can have all 3 stars next game, we'll settle for another win.

You gotta give him some credit though. That dive was highlight reel material. Definitely 1st star worthy.

The Good:
-Snagging a 1-0 series lead on the road.
-Ryan Miller. So...anybody still want Enroth in?
-Gerbe-Goose-Kaleta. That line and the Sabres bottom 6 in general were giving Philly fits all night
-Kaleta snagging the rebound for the GWG and gracing us with the "Dice-Roll"
-Butler, Grags, and Weber were awesome
-The PK
-Grier was a hitting machine. Again, does anyone still want Grier to sit?
-Connolly was quietly good tonight and very effective at the face-off dot.

The Bad:
-The top 6 lines being pretty ineffective
-Myers looked off at times. He has to be better.
-Monty and Morrisonn, especially the former. Praying that Sekera is good to go for game 2.

The Ugly:
-The lack of calls against Philly. Connolly alone should've drawn at least three calls.
-The Flyers gracing us with their own rendition of 'Swan Lake.' Those guys were diving like crazy.
-VanRiemsdyk getting the #1 star?

And now we go to our live feed of the Flyers locker room for a post-game interview with those clutch playoff performers.
