Well, great. I'm glad that it's okay that throughout the series our defenseman can jump and lead with their elbow into one of your scorers heads.

Sound like a plan?

I'd love to see video of that hit.

Don't they have moller as a healthy scratch? Why not play him? What worries me about the White hit, besides how White is doing, is that Wallin will get more minutes, which scares the bejeezus out of me. I hope Huskins heals up soon so he can be paired with Braun.

Not the best angle but you can still see the elbow.

Tragically, you are probably right, but I just don't see how it is possibly justifiable. We would have lost both of our top 6 centers at that point... How many need to disappear before we decide to call-up our best one? We would be left with Handzus and Lewis, then possibly Richardson and Moller. Richie would likely take the third line role and Lewis bumped to second, and then Moller brought in a fourth line role even though he isn't being groomed as a NHL center, though he played the position his entire career.

It SHOULD be Schenn, Handzus, and some combination of Richardson/Lewis/Moller. Only reason I bring up Moller is because Richardson-Lewis was pretty effective and may need to be kept together.

Yes, he leads with his elbow tucked to his side. It was a north-south hit from the front. If you're talking about his left arm, he's clearly holding his stick, which is on the ice. The Stoll hit was a blindside hit into the glass. I can't see how the 2 are equal in any way at all.

It's clearly shoulder to shoulder contact. There is 0 elbow to even upper chest contact on the play.

What the hell was with San Jose's ice? It was horrible. Players from both teams kept falling down. I honestly lost count.

I was thinking the same. Mitchell was starting to scare me in the third period. Kept falling down, sometimes at key moments.

Oh, the elbow was in the follow through, not the initial hit. I was only watching the initial hit back and forth thinking that was where the elbow was. That hit is not comparable to the one on White at all. If you think it is, you're delusional. That was after an initial hit with both players falling to the ice. At best it would be a 2 minute minor penalty and no where near suspension worthy.\

Gotta be more focused and not make ill-advised mistakes like that.
I've noticed more and more this season how the puck seems to either get caught in his skates or hop over his stick tonight.

But your argument was that there was ZERO elbow contact with even the chest. You're right. Because the elbow was to the side of Smyth's head.

One more for good measure...

Great game Kings had a chance to win came up short. On to game two and hopefully a similar effort and win.

The problem with Demers' hit was the leap, not the elbow.

How was it a leap? To me, it looked like a shoulder to shoulder hit that lead to both players falling. I will rewatch it again, though.

You guys played one hella of a game tonight. I knew all along that people were underestimating the Kings, even without Kopitar. Losing Ian White in the game and playing with 5 d-man really affected our flow and I believe that contributed to why the Sharks played so poorly in the second.

I feel the sharks were a bit rattled by that and other things (Wallin being terrible) and weren't at 100%. We'll see how game 2 goes, but I'm expecting another close nail biter!

Since when is it okay to follow through with an elbow to the head?
