I would also submit that if he was in the running for the Wild job, and coaching at the Spengler Cup, that he probably wouldnt be too picky about which nhl job he was offered.

It was also the contention of some that he would be highly sought after and that he wouldnt be out of coaching for long if at all.

These seem to be the facts at hand.

Its not like we are just making **** up.
I didn't say people were making up anything.

If you can provide me proof that he has never turned down a job or took himself out of the running while he was finishing his education I will gladly say that it was common sense.

Otherwise, like you I have no idea. Note I never said you were wrong, I said it could be the case but in reality we have no idea.

This is not true.

I'd say most Coaches make more than the league minimum for players.

Further down the payscale are NHL coaches. Coaches in hockey's premier league averaged about $1 million in salary in 2009, according to Yahoo! Sports. Wayne Gretzky of the Phoenix Coyotes stood out as the league's highest-paid coach for the 2009 to 2010 season, cashing in with a $6.5 million salary.

They definitely don't make $150,000

I lost all respect for MacT when he proved that he couldn't stop himself from treating his favorites better than the rest of the team .

That said I sure don't know why we bothered firing MacT and Lowe , only to hire two replacements that are basically pale imitations of the guys who just got fired . No wonder this team sucks .

NHL coaches make a lot more than 150. Heck, even CFL head coaches make 250k.

NHL head coaches probably average $1 million. I bet a guy like Babcock in Detroit makes $2 - $2.5 million.

Lots of coaches play their favourites more. It's really not that uncommon. When you have no skilled players coaches are going to rely on the players that don't make as many mistakes and who work hard.

From today's Dreger Report:

Quote:
Working as an analyst for the NHL on TSN has helped keep him on top of the game and he's enjoyed the scouting role he has with the Oilers, but MacTavish wants the world to know two things: One - he's officially looking for a job and two - he's healthy and ready to meet and tackle any challenges that come with the job.

"I'm healthy and I'm feeling good and have a very good prognosis," said the 52-year-old - referring to a battle with cancer most around the NHL are aware of - but one MacTavish confidently says won't hold him back.
So there you go. The rumours were a little bit true, glad to hear he's apparently in good health.

Quote:
MacTavish spent last weekend in Russia watching the KHL and meeting with Medvedev and admits he agreed to the adventure to satisfy his curiosity about the quality of hockey and Russian way of life. He added that it would have been irresponsible on his part not to investigate the possibilities that may exist with St. Petersburg, or any other KHL team.

MacTavish - who is putting the finishing touches on a presentation for Medvedev - says he has not yet been offered a job, but it's an option.

I never knew he had cancer. Was it a recent discovery?

There were just a lot of rumours like "I heard from someone who knows him", this is the first time I've seen it confirmed anywhere.

Same here. Someone started a thread last year about him having cancer but it was closed because it was hearsay and they were respecting MacT's privacy.

Yeah there was one last year where someone claimed that MacT had just found out he had terminal cancer and there was a recent thread where he turned down a job coaching a US college team because he found out he had terminal cancer

This recent news is why I said the other day that we shouldn't make assumptions on why he hadn't worked in the last 2 years.

We do not know all the facts and this recent news confirms that.

I am glad to hear he is doing much better!
