4-6 - yay

I assumed there would be no resigning before the draft

I don't think he'll be brought back. Not unless Nieuwendyk is completely insane.

We get have Dallas' 3rd in 2011. Then we get Dallas' 2nd in 2012 and they get our 3rd in 2012.

I could see him signing with dallas. He wasn't awful and could sign pretty cheaply since there isn't much option for him. That 2nd might make Dykey cringe but its really not that awful if you got him for a good contract for depth.

He attended camps for Vancouver, San Jose, St. Louis and the Rangers. I'd think SJ and St. Louis were in on him as well.

Why exactly would the Canucks need another goalie? They have a logjam going there.

After hearing the way Lou gushes about him, I'm very excited.

I just hope we field a decent team in Albany so he doesn't get shellshocked.

How is this any different from signing Jordan Parise a few years back . . . other than the obvious "he's Zach's brother" commentary.

I hope this Kinkaid kid is legit, but I've heard this song before: It is a catchy tune, but it doesn't crack the Top 40 . . . or in this case, the Top 23.

Well, he seems to have been one of the top goalies in the NCAA, moreso than Parise was. I don't recall there being a bunch of other teams looking to sign Parise.

True, I guess they'd have to stay down there anyway. Too bad, I would have liked to see them come up to the AHL sooner.

Jordan Parise wasn't nearly as good. Kinkaid was pretty highly sought after, considering how several teams were in on him. And his numbers in college were better.

I don't remember Lou calling Jordan a "top prospect" - which is what he called Kinkaid.

The only hype around Jordan Parise was that he was Zach's brother

and then he threw a hissy fit to the media around pre-season time this past season when he was trying out with the Rangers that he wasn't happy with how the Devils handled him

Clermont is actually AHL eligible next year. 1991 birthdates can play in the AHL in 2011-12. That's why Nazem Kadri/Jordan Caron (1990) can play in the AHL this year while Brayden Schenn (1991) had to be sent back to juniors. But I could see the Devils recommending that Clermont stay for his overage year.

Couldn't hurt him to stay in juniors until his eligibility expires.

I feel the same disappointment Rod Farva felt when Arcot Rammathorn didn't say Car RamRod over the radio when Kinkaid didn't say "Gotcha Suckas" at the end of his PC.

“I came down a week before I made my decision, and I actually got to meet Marty Brodeur. That was pretty cool because he was my idol growing up,” Kinkaid said. “Then I met Chris Terreri, the goaltending coach.”

Brodeur, who’ll turn 39 on May 6, was gracious.
“He said jokingly that he’s on his way out,” Kinkaid recalled.
