KOSTITSYN and other stuff

Its nice to see the Big Belurussian is enthusiastic to play in North America and is looking to improve and show everyone what he's got. He and Chipchura seem to be fast friends which make indicate a possible dynamic duo in the Habs future (add Locke for a full line?). 6'0 feet doesn't seem very big, maybe if he was 6'2 he would be a little more intimidating, but size might not be a big issue with him.

Another thing that just kinda flotted into my head was how great the team could be if the following roster moves had been or could be made:

sign: Barnaby (1.8M/y), Allison (4M/y), Murray (5M/y), and Kovalev (5M/y).
trade: Ribeiro and get Brisebois to restructure contract Turek style.

I know its virtually impossibe and pointless to consider but the idea is fun. Just think of a team with these lines:

LW C RW
Zednik-Koivu-Kovalev
Ryder-Allison-Murray
Bulis-Bonk-Barnaby
Begin-Higgins-Ward

D D
Souray-Markov
Komisarek-Brisebois
Hainsey-Rivet

G
Theodore
Huet

Payroll: $50 million

Also I'm just coming off a 3 day ban for dissing Leaf fans about their visions of gradeur UFA wise so maybe I'm being a tad hypocritical here but I don't care.

I would far rather have Ribs than Allison. How are you doing your payroll numbers? That seems low to me if we have Kovalev, Murray AND Allison all coming in as UFAs.

Also, you've only got one spot open for rookies in that lineup, and it's on the 4th line. Why both with the rebuilding if we're just going to UFA it?

Sorry I don't want Montreal to be the Rangers.

Baby steps and building chemistry thats the key, not throwing money around like a mad man. Even a team like Detroit or Colorado who get free agents don't go overboard all at once, they build a core with their existing guys and then fill the gaps and pickup missing pieces, they don't try to do it all in one shot.

Sorry but these lineup threads irritate the hell out of me.... Way to much speculation and dreaming.

Odd, since Kastitsyn's can speak less English than my 1 year old and I doubt Chipchura knows much Russian if any at all...

Locke and Chipchura are projected centers, do I see them on the same line in the future, at this point, I'd say definitely no...

Idealy, both of them would have to vastly improve their game to warrant playing on a line with Kostsitsan

Many rookies look good until they start to play NHL games. I will withhold judgment on all of the Habs prospects until at least October.

Kastytsin skating style

I saw Kostsytsin skate on RDS for a few seconds and I was trying to figure out who he reminded me of. Then it hit me. His skating style resembled Dainius Zubrus. For those who have seen him play, am I close?
