I have a feeling NY will get some "home cooking" from the refs today, so far it has been surprisingly well officiated series, i am not used to that.

OV likes the spotlight... first hat trick of the playoffs?

I don't care if the refs call the game fair...I just want them to keep it even. Hopefully caps will weather the storm in the first 10 min and than counter-attack to score.

This game should tell us if the Caps have learned their lesson in consistency. The O is going to need to pick it up.

Actually, it's also:

game 1: 2 Alexes
game 2: 2 Jasons
game 3: 2 Johns? 2 Marc(us/o)s? 2 Mikes? 2 Matts?

We'll have to wait and see...

Wouldn't shock me at all to see the Rags playing with a little more juice today getting tons of energy of the MSG faithful. Also wouldn't shock me to see them get a early PP. Caps gotta weather the storm for the first 10 or so than hopefully take it to them.

Caps foot is on the Rangers neck.

was just checking out WaPo coverage and clicked on the link showing Caps' playoff history when up 2-0 in a series. that was enough to trigger full-blown panic attack.

caps are 3-5 in that situation, but three of those results were when series was best-of-five and 2-0 was even more of an advantage.

in best-of-seven series, when leading 2-0 in the series, the Caps are ... 1-4. that is just astounding. in four of those cases, it didn't even take the opponent all 7 games to finish us off; they just ripped off four straight to send us packing.

not that i think it'll happen this year. i really don't. our team this year plays/sounds/looks different from previous years' models. (among other things, i don't get a pit in my stomach just hearing our goaltender's name.)

on the other hand, it does explain why i still find it excruciating to watch Caps in playoffs. history of extreme frustration and disappointment has led to major case of post-traumatic hockey disorder.

maybe we will wheel Poti out and bench Sarge so he can haunt his former team again

I am kidding.

going to have to weather the storm early.

We're a good road team, playing decent defensive hockey. they need to get a good bounce or two, and I think it might be interesting.

Bruce and boys better be jacked for this one.

things will either be different this time with a 2-0 lead or they won't. i cant worry about it. they are showing signs of knowing what they are doing in the playoffs. wi.ning this game would be a big step forward. one of the next two would be good enough,

i could see that happening if the rangers decide to go rouge and lose their discipline. a couple of 1st period ppg's would set that scenario up perfectly/

I think the caps will be able to handle the storm from NY. As for caps losing focus....in the past if the caps lost focus they'd give up 2 or more goals but now if the caps lose focus it might be 1 or less goals which is fine.

"There are no bad teams in the playoffs.

I can't help but feel NYR is seeking to put this old adage to rest. They are one of the most pathetic and inept teams to back into the playoffs in recent memory. Their much-heralded goaltender has atrocious numbers in the playoffs. If it weren't for the shootout, this team would be watching the playoffs on TV, and their performance through two games demonstrates as much. The only chance they have is if the Caps let them win.

I wont bother to predict the score, as it's incredibly challenging when you have such a gifted offensive team playing strong defense. Nevertheless, Caps win game 3 on their way to a 4 game sweep.

Hate that song. They ripped lyrics straight from the song "Teenage Anarchist" by Against Me!. Which wouldn't be so bad if the song wasn't released less than a year ago, and is from the same genre of music. I dunno maybe they meant to do that.

/music rant.... Lets go Caps!

did the caps lose 4 of those series? i thought it was 3? anyway. we knew this would happen as soon as they got a 2 game lead they would have to face the choke factor and put it down.

I fully expect the will run Neuvy in an effort to get in his head. That said, I sincerely doubt the rangers themselves will make this a cheap shot game. Even avery understands you just don't do that and expect to have a career.
