Scale of 1-10 how pissed would Keith be if you guys traded him after he re-upped last year?

My guess, 10.

BUF would be perfect. Should be on his list, they miss a guy like him to take pressure off from Myers and they have the Cap Space with new owners who will spend to the Cap.

Only thing that is missing is a bad contract or salary going our way.

In this case

Campbell + 1st + Paradis for Hecht

I had a feeling Hecht was gonna be your suggestion when I started reading your post

Wonder why

Not because he is german. He looks like the only salary that BUF could send us back - and this will happen when we trade Campbell

Keep in mind that just because a guy has a NMC...that doesn't mean he won't waive it if requested. Many players might be insulted and willing to take a trade if they feel unwanted. Simon Gagne waived last summer when Philly wanted to deal him to TB.

I would do that trade. And I've suggested Buffalo as the target a few times in recent days.

I would even go as far as offering them to take Morin or Beach instead of the 1st - their choice. I don't want to lose any of them, but freeing up some of these dollars in the defense very well could affect winning another cup or not.

Think Wirtz would ever allow dumping Campbell in the minors? Like what happened to Redden/Souray etc? Of course Campbell is 3 times the player but still?

Not with 5 years left and Huet still on the books

Final year or 2 maybe (More likely buy him out)

I'd like to move Campbell aswell, but not with Morin/Beach as the trade bait. I know Beach gets alot of hate on this board, but he's still a very high quality prospect.

I'd give up a 1st and a prospect along the lines of Lalonde, Holl, J. Hayes but not someone of Morin or Beach's calibur.

Would a Campbell & Sharp package get anyone's interest around the league?

And he gets paid the same no matter how poorly he performs. But then again, that's in all pro sports.

Keith has already proven his calibre of talent when he's bringing his A game. A less than stellar season is hardly a reason to throw in the towel on the guy. He's still young with a lot of years left in him barring any serious injuries. If they're really willing to fold on the guy, I'd love to have him on the Leafs.

It would be hard enough finding as team that is willing and able to take Campbell's salary on. You can't throw Sharp's salary on top of that. The team would need 11 mil in cap room and other than the Sabres and their unique situation right now - teams that have 11 mil in cap space have that cap space because they dont want to spend to the cap.

If Campbell is traded and if the Hawks have to throw in sweeteners, it will almost certainly be low dollar assets that go with Soupy.

Yeah I'm not hating on Beach at all. And Morin is my favorite Hawk prospect atm.

I'll throw this question back at you. I'm not convinced the guys you are willing to add to the trade would sway other teams all that much. So with that in mind...

If the prospects you listed aren't enough. Would you be willing to throw Morin or Beach in to get Soupy out of here - or would you rather us sit tight and deal with Campbell staying put??

I would do the trade. Our defense is unbalanced and one of these high paid PMD/finesse defensemen needs to go to free up dollars for the rest of the roster. We had injuries this year at the wrong time and it killed us. We didn't have the depth to withstand it. The same problem will arrive next year and the years after if our depth isn't fixed. We will get injuries around playoff time every year - like every other team does. If anyone thinks these injuries are a fluke, they are sorely mistaken.

You'd have to take some sort of bad contract back(shorter term), but I could see it. You wouldn't get a ton of value, but you'd get something decent.

Not sure which team though. Maybe NYR if they miss out on Richards?

Campbell + Sharp
for
Dubinsky/Callahan(which ever they want less) + Drury?

Toews-Dubinsky/Callahan-Drury

down the middle?

Or they may send Redden and you guys send him down instantly?

No problem. You can have our 1st in 2011 too. Just send Datsyuk back and we'll call it even
