Yea or nay? Sign Max Talbot

Hey gents,

I don't see him leaving Pittsburgh but Max Talbot would be the perfect addition to this team in my opinion. He is a leader, he's gritty, and he has tremendous character. Would fit in very very nicely as a third line centre. But like I said, I'd be shocked if Pittsburgh let him walk, he's a fan favourite there.

Also, Talbot played 4 years for the Olympiques in the Q. Maybe he's like to come back?

If he leaves Pittsburgh I think we need to do everything we can to try and get him. You need guys like him to win, and he'd be a perfect influence for younger players in this rebuild. His character will rub off on everyone.

So, if he becomes available, sign him or no?

I'd prefer Zenon Konopka. Former 67's captain, will stick up for the kids, great faceoff man and will play the PK.

No thanks. No need for scrubs on this team.

Nay, we don't have room in the bottom-6 for any more vets.

It's true, there's no real fit.

And for the guy saying Kenopka...there's no sense bumping Smith who's winning faceoffs and killing penalties like a pro and doing some of the sticking up as well.

This team needs players that can contribute offensively.

no way. Like has been said, we have an abundance of bottom six players.

I would much rather have Brooks Liach.

We seem to have about a million bottom 6 players and Talbot is the kind of guy who would probably take too much money to pry out of Pittsburgh and onto Ottawa.

We do have a lot of projected Bottom 6'ers but I don't know if we have THE third line centre. Talbot plays that role perfectly. I wouldn't call him a scrub either. He can score some clutch goals and turn a game around when needed. I don't know how there's not a fit for a guy like him, we lack a thrid line centre. A line like Greening-Talbot-Condra would be sick.

Anyways just a suggestion. I think he would sign for like $1.5 million or so, so I don't think it would be too bad. I don't think he leaves Pittsburgh though.

Konopka I'm not a fan of at all. He plays like 5 minutes a game or so on the Islanders.

We do need scoring but we have holes everywhere. My other suggestion is Tim Connolly, for 2nd line C.

Nay, this is the time to play our young talent & see how far they can go with the ice time. I wouldn't mind Ottawa signing Konopka to replace Winchester at center on the 4th line. Konopka is much tougher, better at face offs & is much more intimidating than Winchester, Winnie could be the 13th forward. We could use Konopka's toughness when Carkner is injured rather than have to call up Lessard.

O'Brien at center on the 3rd line gives us another potential goal scorer who is also very responsible defensively & big enough & strong enough to be a shutdown centerman against other team's good lines. O'Brien IMO has more offensive potential than Winchester.

Foligno - O'Brien - Condra
Z. Smith - Konopka - Neil/Winchester

Pitt will never let him go, from what I hear about Talbot he's the ultimate team and glue guy. His teammates and coches love him and he never ever backs down. Talbot is the type of guy that plays old time hockey, I'd love to have him.

Having a guy who had the biggest game of his life in Game 7 of the Cup finals and played in the WJC, why do we need that type of player? All he does is play on a winning team and is loved by his teammates, scores huge goals, fights, is a leader, OH YEAH we have Roman Wick and Ryan Shannon in our bottom 6....

No way. I get to watch him alot and in my opinion he's nowhere near where he used to be. He was a personal favorite of mine, but this year he's been invisible for the most part. Also Im pretty sure he set the record for must turtles in a game when they brawled the Islanders.

Did you watch O'Brien this year when he was up? You think HE is ready for a full-time third line role? I don't think so. His chances of making the NHL full-time are getting smaller every year.

I can't believe Talbot got 46 goals and 104 points as an 18 year old for the Olympiques. Wow.

Most reports I read had O'Brien being the most improved player in Bingo this yr. Look I would love to have Talbot in Ottawa but I don't believe he will ever leave Pittsburgh so it's a moot point for me. Saying that I think that O'Brien is very close to being NHL ready, he had numbers very close to Condra, has more size & can play C or RW. The Sens have said that he took a giant step forward this yr, so I think I'll go with what they say.

Would rather sign Glencross. Konopka and Upshall would also be good targets for free agency.

Yeah Talbot would be pretty sweet. I'll put my hatred aside if he signs with the Sens.
