Tomas Plekanec Video (My First)

So this is one of my first amateur videos I make. Looking for some positive or negative criticism as far as the video goes. I would like to make more, and will either way. But being told what's good and what's bad often helps on improving the next!

I found some of the lighting effects to be a bit jarring, but overall very nice work .

Jarring? Like over powering? Thanks!

So next video keep simpler on effects, focus more on music timeing... etc?

I am a big fan of Plekanec but this highlight video just prove why this guy is underevaluated. He get's the puck on net and does very nice pass but he is not flashy at all. Still he is one of the best two way forward in the league IMO

Nice vid and great player. A bit soft though. Plekleenex.

I apologize for the lack of humorous content in my post. I now shall go back to my activities.

don't use lighting effects. The puck is already hard to see it's annoying.

Also if the footage is oldschool/blurry don't bother putting it in. Takes away from the entire video if every five clips there's a bad quality one.

Pick better music, something more mainstream just to hit more of a target audience. Neutral music is always nice (for example clubbed to death by rob dougan)

Use more commentary. It's nice when the music goes softer and the commentary is overlaid and you hear the play being called, especially if it was a good commentator with enthusiasm.

sync sync sync. Having whatever music and clips playing is lame. People may as well mute and play music they like instead. It's better to sync the song with the video. Time the goals with bass or cymbals or something in the song that's easy to sync.

be more selective about the clips. Make sure it's actually a nice goal being scored and not a garbage rebound.

going off the last point, use filler footage. Inbetween the goals show maybe a clip of Plekanec throwing a hit, then maybe one where it's a close up of his face during a time out. This also helps you sync with the song cause sometimes songs slow down and you need to match that.

length of the video. Honestly a good highlight video should be around 1:30. Especially for a player like Plekanec. You can only get away with the 3:00 vids when you're showing highlights of a guy like Forsberg where you basically have an endless supply of amazing hits, goals and plays. shortening the vid makes syncing easier, makes selecting clips easier cause you don't need as many and you can exclude the garbage ones, etc.,

hope all my tips helped and that you choose to use them in your future videos.

Im not much for mainstream music, but I have an epic orchestral song picked out for my next video.

As for the Garbage goals, I was trying to get as many goals or assists from this year, but yah, And Ill avoid the crappy quality clips.

As for synching, your not the first to tell me that.

I like the lighting effects but, very true on difficulty seeing the puck.

And the next music clips is about 1:30 actually! hehe

Anyways Ill be looking for more constructive criticism on my next one as well.

Also replays. If a play was really nice but happened sort of fast don't be afraid to replay it, either same speed or preferably slow-mo.

Also if you have other angles of the same play that's fantastic and works much better.

Not a big fan of the special effect you used in the video (pausing the play). But I see progression judging your first video and this one.

Well the pause in play is to more or less sync it with the song... And emphasize the moment.
