I'm thinking the Wings will mostly stand pat at forward...but the more I see of the playoffs, the more I'm convinced this is Lidstrom's last year. So they'll probably make a run at a veteran, puck moving, positional defenseman like Markov, or failing that, Kaberle. I don't think they go after a goalie like Vokoun because they just re-signed Howard a few months ago.

Ericsson, Bieksa, Markov, and Gill for Defense.
Glencross, Talbot, Dupuis for Offense.

Dealt
Pouliot for maybe a prospect and a late pick like a 3-5th.

Walk
Pyatt, Hamrlik, Wisniewski, Picard, Sopel, Mara, Halpern

Newcomers
Glencross, Talbot, Dupuis, Ericsson, Bieksa

Re-sign
Markov, Gorges, Gill, Kostitsyn, Pacioretty, Weber, Darche, White, Desharnais

New Lineup
Cammalleri(6) Plekanec(5) Kostitsyn(3)
Pacioretty(1.35) Gomez(7.3) Gionta(5)
Glencross(2.5) Eller(1.3) Dupuis(1.5)
Moen(1.5) Talbot(1.2) Desharnais(700k)

ex. White(700k), Darche(750k)

Markov(5) Bieksa(4)
Subban(875k) Gill(1.25)
Gorges(2.2) Ericsson(1.25)

ex. Spacek(3.83), Weber(800k)

Price(2.75)
Auld(1)

This lineup should be roughly around 60.7 (the cap is reportedly suppose to be 62.(something)mill, leaving us with around 2mill in cap space, healthy scratch strong players up front and offensive scratches on the backend.) I find we would have a complete depth lineup from 1st line to the backup goalie.

So you're not sure if he's good but you want the Habs to sign him?

He is 29, he is a big body, not great speed, plays a decent shutdown game. He has a better than average shot from the point. He is more a physical presence from what I seen when watching the red wings play. He can jump up sometimes on the rush. I like his physical side though and would add him to our roster if we have the chance.

Gagne, Brewer, and Roloson all have good-to-great chances of re-signing. I'll probably garner that all 3 will be back. I might also add that we won't be going after any of the big names either. SFY stayed away from it last offseason, even though it was available. We got some very good prospects in waiting (Ashton, Gudas, Tokarski..) and also have to move carefully with the salary cap with alot of re-signings to do, mainly Stamkos and Hedman in another year. Lundin will get a nice pay raise. I won't object if we do get a big name for the right price, but being realistic I doubt we do. We'll target the 2nd tier of free agents again and its worked out pretty well this year aside from Ellis.

Yes, an individual with liquid assets and no board of directors/pension fund telling him what to do with his money. And yes, I understand there is a salary cap, but we can finally utilize the rules to our advantage without counting pennies.

As a Penguins fan i'm hoping the Penguins re-sign:

Craig Adams
Arron Asham
Max Talbot

None should get huge raises but Asham and Talbot are showing their worth in the playoffs. Adams will likely re-sign at league minimum or close to it.

Step 2: Call Brad Richards. He is going to say no because he'd have to take less salary and i get the impression he wants to be the center-piece of a team like NYR and not play second fiddle to other players

Step 3: Look at wingers in the 3-5 mil price range. One guy i did not see mentioned is Jussi Jokinen. He seems like a potential fit for the system. Erik Cole is another good possiblity. Laich is another good target for them to pursue depending on how they feel about Kennedy and if they can fit him into the cap. Prediction is they get one of those 3 guys with outside shot at Leino or Upshall.

2011-2012 lineup:

Neal-Crosby-Jokinen/Cole
Kunitz-Staal-Malkin
Cooke-Letestu-Kennedy
Talbot-Adams-Asham

or (dream scenario if they can fit it under cap)

Neal-Crosby-Cole/Jokinen
Kunitz-Malkin-Laich
Cooke-Staal-Kennedy
Talbot-Adams-Asham

The issue with these are Letestu doesn't play in the 2nd group and Jeffrey is not in either roster and he deserves a shot. Plus Tangradi might supise for a spot next year as well

He's very young relatively speaking from a Wings viewpoint (27).

Is he good? I can never tell. He's the scapegoat on the blueline whether it's deserved or not. My opinion is that he's one of the better #5 guys you can get. Probably not top-4 though.

Salary does not permit. You'll be lucky to resign Leino with so little cap space.

I realize that Montreal can't have them all, and these players could make a team of their own, but it would be nice to resign or sign some of these players.
Insert Montreal beside every french players name....

I'm no expert but he looks weak to me. Don't expect to get a player from Detroit and have them play better. I've seen him look terrible some nights.

Habs need Markov, & Wisnewski. They should then go after Talbot and Dupuis from the Pens.
