Drury could retire, if not he is bought out and that's 3.4 of his 7 million hit gone.
Avery and his 1.9 hit is gone.
Wolski is traded and his 3.8 is gone.

There's enough room to be made for Richards.
Good luck with all of that

I see Kaberle re-signing in Boston because he has a fellow country man on the team and I hope to see Fleishmann or Upshall also in Boston

It's really not that hard.

- First we have the cap hit very very likely going up.

- The UFAs McCabe, Frolov, Prospal, White, and Eminger aren't coming back regardless. Fedotenko will possibly be re-signed.

- Gilroy will be re-signed for less money.

- Wojtek is likely to be bought out according to several reports. Sather traded him not only for the skill he had, but also because he is under 26, so his cap hit would be 1/3 of what it is currently if he is bought out (buyout caphit =$466,667). Torts also doesn't like him too much.

- Sather, Torts and Co will be seriously discussing Drury's future. Tort's acknowledged that Drury's knees might not hold up in a quote today.

- Redden wants an NHL comeback and knows he won't get it with the Rangers. He will be/is discussing his options with his agent.

- There have been rumors from a very knowledgeable poster on our board, that Boogaard might have to retire due to his concussion. Or he could be buried in the AHL, or even stay in the NHL, doesn't matter.

These things all have to go right, but they are very real, and Sather and Torts know it.

Until Toronto throws 5 years 45 million at him. And then all the Rangers can do is pray he really doesn't want to play in Ontario.

That would be stupid on Toronto's part. He's worth 5Y/$35 at most. He isn't getting paid more than he currently is.

Tim Connolly - Europe- easier on his injury-prone body
Alex Tanguay - Colorado- back to where it all started
Curtis Glencross - Detroit- Replacing some of the pop that Maltby and Draper are leaving behind
Eric Cole - Calgary- replace Tanguay, sort of, but brings the grit and hustle that Calgary famously pines for
Tomas Kopecky - Atlanta- no real reason, just see this being a sort of off-the-radar pickup by a team wanting to improve sooner than later.
Tomas Fleishmann - Tampa- secondary scoring help for relatively cheap
Scottie Upshall - St. Louis- young, hard-working team on the upswing missing a few pieces from being pretty solid.
Brad Richards - Nashville- Number 1 centre would help this team get over the hump
Jamie Langenbrunner - Dallas- back to his old stomping grounds
Ryan Jones - Edmonton- said heīd like to return, heīs young, and the Oilers are going to start improving pretty rapidly
Michal Handzus - Carolina- not the best skater, a bit slower conference, and a team on the up in need of some defensive specialists
Antii Miettinen - Colombus- I have no idea why, just the first team that came to mind.
Steve Sullivan - Nashville- loves the city, and only reason they donīt have a deal is concern over injury, Iīm betting.
Joel Ward - New Jersey- defensive style, ready to step up and make some coin on a team thatīll be contending again soon.
Zenon Konopka - Edmonton- badly need a guy who can win draws, enforce, and mentor a very young and inexperienced 4th line.
Ville Leino - Boston- secondary scoring for a rather shallow team
Pascal Dupuis - Florida- donīt know why, just see it happening.
Maxim Talbot - Anaheim- strong leadership, good defensive play on a team stacked on the top 6 but lacking more in the bottom
Alex Kovalev - Pittsburgh- secondary scoring on a low contract with the team that gave him a shot
Simon Gagne - Buffalo- strong young team he can help mentor and lead farther into the playoffs
Raffi Torres - Carolina- gets tougher and helps to replace Coleīs departure
Chris Higgins - NYI- nobody really wants him, and heīll sign somewhere on a one or two year deal where he can be more of an impact player.
Brooks Laich - Toronto- donīt know why I think heīll go there, but he fills a role at C that Toronto could REALLY benefit from
Jason Arnott - Washington- heīs looked great there so far, so why wouldnīt they re-up him for a year or two and give him a shot to win a cup with them.

Defense

Tomas Kaberle - Dallas- need a veteran d-man to play at both ends of the ice, but have a pretty solid team.
Steve Montador - Minnesota- strengthen up the D with a minor signing
Anton Babchuk - Tampa- depth signing on a pretty good team
Joni Pitkanen - Montreal- losing some dmen and heīs a young guy I think theyīll go hard after.
Jan Hejda - Edmonton- played there already and can help steady a very young blueline on an upandcoming team
Jonathan Ericsson - Detroit- just think heīll re-sign
Andrei Markov - SJ- help push a good team over the top
James Wisniewski - Colorado- young team, heightened role on D.
Roman Hamrlik - Vancouver- replace at least one of Bieksa and Ehrhoff leaving on a contender
Hal Gill - NYI- donīt know why, just have a feeling
Shane O'Brien - Detroit- all guts player that fits well as depth on Detroit
Andy Greene - LA- bit more depth on D
Radek Martinek - Phoenix- another donīt know why, but rather inexpensive and good depth.
Bryan McCabe - NJ- offensive d-man to help out on the PP.
Ed Jovanovski - Montreal- another defenseman to solidify a blueline with a lot of UFAs.
Ian White - Washington- solid depth on a playoff contender
Kent Huskins - Boston- depth D signing
Eric Brewer - Montreal- another signing to replace some good dmen leaving.
Kevin Bieksa - Dallas- more veteran depth on D
Christian Ehrhoff - St. Louis- Willing to overpay for a top pairing dman

Goalie

Ray Emery - Tampa- thereīs a spot for grabs
Jose Theodore - Philly- battle for a spot with an inexperienced guy
Marty Turco - Atlanta- push Pavelec
Peter Budaj - Columbus- backup and possibility of passing Mason to start
Matheiu Garon - Anaheim- backup role on an improving team
Tomas Vokoun - Europe- heīs older and itīll prolong his career
Josh Harding - Tampa- he wants to start and start on a good team
Evgeni Nabokov - Phoenix- need a new starter after Bryzīplayoffs, and he can be had cheaply
Ilya Bryzgalov - Colorado- need a starter, and he can be as good as anybody.
JS Giguere - Ottawa- try to get his career back on track

I wouild love for the Blues to sign Upshall and Ehrhoff, nice work

Dunno why people are putting McCabe with NYR, personally I don't want him back at all and he's going to be looking for more money than we have/need to spend on a 3rd pairing vet.

I will issue a guarantee that he will not be retained by the Rangers.

I think out of the list here, I think Montreal would be interested in 3 forwards such as Pascal Dupuis, Maxim Talbot, and Curtis Glencross. I think the Habs would look to get maybe a Dman like Bieksa, Huskins or Montador and possibly keep Markov and Gill of the list. Wisniewski will be hard to retain, I think he might walk.

What are some of you thoughts of where some of these players will go.

HABS LINE UP

PAC 1M GOM 7.5M GIO 5M

Over the whole 5 pages of thread only five people have mentioned L.A.
One with Ryder. Two were people saying we will resign Zus. One saying we will sign Andy Greene and another saying we will sign Bieksa. So everyone must be worried about the Kings defense which was about 4th best in the league. Or they know Lombardi is hopeless at FA. Actually that makes most sense.
