Predictable cycling along the boards

Enough of this cycling along the boards garbage. It hasn't worked in a long time because it is entirely too predictable as it is the only style this team has been forced to play under Tortarella. It isn't effective and it's unbelievably tiresome to watch. I was watching the Buffalo/Philly game last night and their teams are actually capable of carrying the puck into the zone, making good passes and are capable of getting the puck to the net. The grind along the boards and from behind the net philosophy needs to change next year or it will be more of the same frustration as this season.

There needs to some sort of variety in the style of play in order to be effective at adapting to the stifling defense the Rangers have encountered from the Caps in this series.

You need to get a coach with a clue if you want to change the strategies.

All we do is dump and chase, then turn the puck over.

Man, this series just proves how bad our offense really is. We really are THAT BAD of a team, when it comes to offensive skill.

We try to tell ourselves that guys are better than they are. It's bad.

Thanks, Sather...you've done such a great job these last 10 years.

Whatever the reason they need some variety in the style of play.

Exactly the problem we have. We're just not nearly talented enough. Sure some guys show heart, but heart alone won't win you a stanley cup.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go roll a spliff, kick back and just meditate on next season.

Another reason they dump pucks so much is that they are afraid of making mistakes/turnovers, with a coach that doesn't keep them on such a short leash they would be much more creative, sure they would have some turnovers first, but then they will get better that is the only path to becoming a really good team. Has nothing to do with lack of skilled players when our skilled players dump and shoot the puck into the offensive zone.

the worst is the dump and chase on the PP.

Torts deserves a kick in the groin for this ****. There's no reason they can't carry the puck into the zone on the PP. dump and chase is pathetic. it'd be ok if we could actually get to the loose puck once we dump it in, but we never do. absolutely pathetic. carry the damn puck in.

This team literally knows nothing else. And how many goals cone directly from board play? None! **** doesn't work, so keep doing it, keep trying it but it still won't work. Try something different for a damn change.

I don't know who's crawling all over the boards more; us or the Rangers.

Thing is, he HAD a great thing going.. a team that was at the very least a 4/5th seed lineup capable of at the very least second round appearances. That team was headed by Jagr and Shanny.

The day we signed Gomez and Drury was the day we turned from moving forward to where we are today... making/not making the playoffs on the last day of the season and getting tossed in one round.

you dump and chase when a team like the caps stand the blueline. there IS a reason you can't carry the puck into the zone, theyve got 4 across waiting for you to do that. Dumping and chasing does work, we just got beaten to pucks...when we did have the puck, they were right on top of us. Our PP does suffer from a lot of things, the inability to get hard shots through, the inability to shoot off the pass, and especially the lack of movement. but our entry, based on the type of defensive attack, was correct.
