Have people forgotten how Winnipeg was a doormat to jokes from players not wanting to play there?

You thought Edmonton was bad, Winnipeg was worse.....way worse.
Very well said. If the local residents are so secure and love their city so much then why are they so ******** about Bryz's comments? Maybe they are more truthful than they want to admit.

I think Winnipeg would quickly pass Edmonton on the 'cities no NHL player actually wants to live in' list

I laugh at the people who want Bryz to walk.

If he does, then you have the great choice between Vokoun, who lost his job to Clemmenson, and Giguere, who lost his job to a rookie.

Assuming that Philly/Florida/Tampa does not go after any of the aforementioned.

I am not going to pretend to know about Winnipeg, so maybe it is true that there's just as much for families to do there as anywhere else.

But, after reading your sales pitch, I don't believe it for one second.

No, the reason the Coyotes lost is because they were inferior to the Red Wings in basically every single respect.

To the poster Tarheel quoted, you proved the point Bryz was making rather than arguing it down.

The "hundreds of sports teams" seems a little far fetched, and no one is going to compare Winnipeg NYC or Chicago. Plus, he left out a lot of other cultural and recreational activities that can be found in and around the city. But to say that there is nothing to do is also something that you shouldn't believe for one second.

I don't think they'll have as much of a problem as you think. If the team is successful, then it won't matter too much where they play. Most players want to win and if they can win in Winnipeg, then I think they'll go there. Unfortunately, they might have some problems early on because some players might not want to move(Bryz, Belanger, etc.)

So I wonder if Tampa is licking their chops knowing Bryz doesn't like to play in cold areas, and they have money to spend this offseason???

True. But I'd also bet most people here hating on Bryzgalov would probably take an opportunity to choose what city they lived and worked in based on their own preferences.

Bicycles we had this dicussion before. He is not the only one to think this, The NHL still wants to grow in the US, and Player did not vote WPG number 1 in that poll. You asked on the Oilers board what are the players playing for.... in this day its money and hot chicks, something Phoenix has in spades.

Uh, not in the context of what else was written. The point the previous commenter was trying to make is he wants a player who won't turn into a 50 year-old skeleton still singing in concerts and acting like he's sexy and relevant, all the while stealing babies. I think that makes perfect sense.

Bryzgalov better think twice about resigning with the Coyotes if they stay in Phoenix

I approve of this thread. But in the end it won't matter because this team is not leaving.

Love all the people personally attacking Bryz because of a personal preference. I guess none of you care where you live, how it affects your wife/kids. How you fit in. Insert every basement is the same joke.

I think it was Sportsnet that brought up an interesting point.

People that signed with PHX as UFAs - will they/can they fight their contracts if the team moves? Will be an interesting situation. I'm sure a veteran like Whitney didn't sign a contract with PHX to move to WPG to retire.

I don't know what kids bicycles knows, but "Folklorama" doesn't exactly sound like something they'd be lining up in droves for.

Seriously.
that's weird because it doesnt sound like that at all to me.
To me it sounds exactly like someone who doesnt want to play in winnipeg.

i was wondering about this last night, and im sure its been asked/answered many times but what happens if players decide that didnt sign that X year contract to live in winnipeg for the next X years. Or guys that may have taken less so they could stay in Phoenix etcetc.
Are their contracts written in such a fashion that they are completely bound even in the event of a franchise relocation?
what about guys with no trade and no movement clauses? can they opt out?

They'll have a choice. Play or don't play anywhere. Winnipeg could handle it just as NYI have Nabokov. Although I'm not sure they should at least for the older players. Younger guys haven't earned the right to complain.

That wasn't the point. They *could* have legal grounds to fight the contract.
