Overdue for Lidstrom, frankly. He probably won't win it, though.

I think Lidstrom might get one just based off of the "How has arguably one of the classiest players in hockey history not won one in 19 seasons of clean and extremely skilled hockey?" sentiment that seems to be going around. Wouldn't argue against any of the possible winners, though.

I actually like the thought of Eriksson winning this. The guy plays very clean hockey, and consequently pretty much never gets called for penalties... how many PIM did he have this season? 10?

Not to slight Datsyuk in any way, but I think of him as less "gentlemanly" than Lidstrom. I think of just about everyone as less gentlemanly than Lidstrom... he seems to define the word.

Historically, Lidtstrom should win.

He's obviously in his last season ( even though I want him to play 5 more ) and the Lady Byng tends to go to a player on his last hoorah, like when Gretzky won it in 99.

True, but he generally has more PIM than Datsyuk, which seems to be the real factor behind the award.

A d-man haven't won this in 57 years. I think St Louis takes this one. Lidström wins the Norris Trophy.

Voters need to stop going Points - Pim = Byng and actually watch the players.

I don't really get the focus on PIMs either. Sure, if you have 80 PIMs then I can see why it would matter. But if I'm in a puck battle and accidentally trip you up, then I'm no more or less of a sportsman than if I didn't accidentally trip you up. And while PIMs might be a good indicator in general, when it comes to selecting the most sportsman like player, it's a bit off.

Either way, it seems like an incredibly subjective award.

Pretty sure his fight earlier this year is keeping him from being a finalist.

And with the media being the ones pumping why Lidstrom hasn't won yet, and the media being the ones who vote, they finally realised they have the power to give Lidstrom the award. By virture of being Datsyuk's teammate, he probably stole votes from Datsyuk.

This. I'd be shocked if Lidstrom doesn't win this, although I'm rooting for MSL.

This is the voters way of saying no freaking way St.Louis are you getting a hart nominee even tho you were second in the nhl in points. But oh right hes not a monster performer or Pat Falloon second overall drat pick. Falloon has a better chance at winning the hart
