I agree. And I also find it funny that Luongo's nomination comes after he gets pulled 2 games in a row.

I think people get too wrapped up in the nomination stuff. The winner has already been decided, it's not like they vote after the nominations.

So maybe Lundqvist got 4th instead of 3rd. Big deal. He doesn't get a trip to Vegas out of it. He ain't gonna win anyway. He's got enough money to go to Vegas anytime he wants.

The nominations are known weeks before they are released.

I still get a chuckle that the two main "better than Marty" love affairs are still cupless and vezinaless.

Makes me smile. I respect Lundqvist, I enjoy ripping on Luongo but they are both elite tenders, this troll face is more directed at the blind fans who attach delusions of grandeur to goalies who have yet to make it to the show or win the big V and try to waterdown the -hall of fame-, -record breaking- career of Brodeur. Richteritis is what I call it.

Cheers

Exactly. A lot of people actually believe it's like a presidential race. I think the NHL awards works on the same premise as like say the Grammys.

Richteritis?

Yes, over the years I have compiled a Devil-hater whine/complaint/tease list. It's things heard or overheard in bars, at games, in dressing rooms, water cooler conversations etc.

"Matteau, Matteau, Matteau!"

"You only won 1/2 of a Cup because the season was only half-season because of the strike"

"Devils are moving to Nashville"

"Devils are moving to Portland"

"Devils are moving to Seattle"

"Devils are moving to Houston"

"Who has a parade in a parking lot?"

"So will all 4 Devil fans be at the parking lot parade?"

"We had 4 million people at our ticker tape parade and you only had 30,000 at your parking lot"

"Your 1995 1/2 Cup was a fluke because you didn't make the playoffs the next year"

"Marty would be nothing if it weren't for the trap"

"Marty would be nothing if it weren't for Stevens, Daneyko & Neidermayer"

"Marty is overrated"

"Mike Richter owns Martin Brodeur"

"If Mike Richter were on the Devils, they would have won 4 or 5 Cups by now"

"Lou is cheap"

"Lou is overrated because he alienates a lot of his own players"

"Why would anyone coach a Devils team? Lou fires too many coaches"

"Doesn't Larry Robinson have any dignity? He gets fired and comes back to the organization?"

"You have no Hall of Famers"

"What homegrown talent? Stevens, Holik & Lemieux aren't homegrown"

"we own you in the playoffs"

"Any goalie would have won 3 Cups with the Devils"

"The Devils only win because of the trap"

"The Devils only win because of clutching & grabbing"

"I played beer league hockey in NJ once and the officiating was horrible. I guess the refs are Devils fans because they let all the clutching & grabbing go uncalled just like in a Devils game."

"The Devils are killing hockey"

"So what, now you guys have 1 & 1/2 Cups" (circa 2000)

"Brodeur only wins 40 games per season because he starts so many games to begin with!"

^^^ my favorite^^^

"Ha Ha you're buiding an arena in Newark"

"The Devils play in a dirty swamp"

"The Devils play in a garbage dump"

"Jersey's dirty!"

"You guys can't even sell out Stanley Cup Final home games."

"So what if we offered Bobby Holik $9 million, you guys were gonna offer him $8 million anyway?"

"Lamoriello should have taken Cujo & Brindy from St. Louis because Stevens & Brodeur are overrated"

"Stevens is a dirty hitter"

"Stevens is afraid of Messier"

"Stevens is a cheap shot artist that always gets away with leading with his elbow"

"Daneyko is a drunk"

"Brodeur committed adultery"

"Sports Illuistrated didn't put the Devils Cup teams on their cover"

"We missed an entire season of hockey because the Devils are kings of clutch & grab, trap & boring hockey."

"I don't care if the Devils win the Atlantic Division the next 10 years in a row but in the new NHL, if they don't win a Cup, a 100+ point season doesn't mean a thing"

"I'd rather have the NYR miss they playoffs 100 years in a row rather than play the trap"

"Devils get away with penalties because Lou is so powerful in the NHL"

"Gary Bettman and the referees want the Devils to win"

Have I left anyting out?

The Rangers were the 5th in GA/G, Lundy's stats are from playing in front of a good team. Nothing more.

Pretty much. I didn't think Hank would get into the top 3 anyway, Thomas was sensational this year, Rinne was great, and Luongo was great as well. Hell even Price had a fantastic year. It was the year of the goaltender it seemed like with all the ridiculous stats that were being put up. I've got no complaints with the three nominees.

Elsewhere the Islanders will try and "toll" Nabokov's contract for not reporting. If successful that means Nabokov will be stuck playing for the league minimum or not play at all. Though if successful I think the Isles will try to trade him somewhere. Still him not wanting to play a couple of months on the Island is probably costing him money.

Thomas has probably already won anyway, so the nominees don't matter.

Not surprising, it's the right move for Snow to make. Nabokov should have just reported. He should have realised that he can't be choosy when he's the one crawling back.

We should go for him, he'd be a solid backup for league min. and we could probably just send them one of our several #6's (Corrente, Fraser, Salmela, etc.)

Nabokov tells SovSport "I may join the training camp with the Islanders," says he didn't join the team bc he didn't think he could help 'em.

Apparently John Tortorella has received a three year extension:

Somewhere, Larry Brooks cackles to himself.
