I would like that. And change it to Campbell and Wales conferences too.

That's ideally what Detroit wants, but there are rumblings that the Jackets are higher on the NHL's move list than Detroit.

Nashville is in the central time zone, and I think the NHL would prefer to avoid having only one team in the East in a different time zone.

This is more likely. Or the Jackets go east. In either case, somebody from the Atlantic is going to the Southeast.

If its going to Winnipeg any team moving east is going to be in a different time zone. Detroit or Nashville it makes no difference, except for the fact that Nashville is much closer to all locations on the east coast than Detroit is

Check a map. Detroit is on EST. As is Columbus.

push the penguins and bring in the blue jackets!!!!

We need gravy teams in the Atlantic. Detroit has it easy enough already.

If Detroit moves to the East, they'll win the President's Trophy every year.

I hope they don't push Detroit to the ATL. Hell, even having them in the East bugs me. It's two guaranteed losses at the Joe, if they move to the ATL it's three guaranteed losses at the Joe.

Then the way they maul us at home, it's likely four to six losses to them.

F off, Detroit!

Just move Phoenix already.

That might be what they would do. They'd love to have Ovechkin and Crosby meet more often.

Nashville being in a different time zone makes them less likely to move to the East, even if they're close to other South East teams.

If they were in the same EST, then they move without question.

Tell 'em to change time zones.

I seriously think that if Atlanta moves, it shouldn't be to Winnipeg anyways. Portland, Seattle, Houston, Las Vegas, Kansas City ... these are all more desirable locations for a team, and they make NBC/Vs happier.

I don't think Seattle will ever get a team. Probably not Portland either. Houston, maybe. I'm hoping Quebec will get one too.

I'd actually enjoy playing Detroit 4 times a year. I don't see them being moved to the Atlantic. And I don't see it being an issue moving Nashville to the East. An hour later isn't gonna kill anybody.

Atlanta was one of the loudest buildings a few years back, it went from feast to famine really, really quick.

Moving Nashville and Minnesota does make the most geographic sense, but we'll see if that's what they decide.

The more I look at this, the more obvious to me it becomes.

North West:

Winnipeg (like it or not, they're getting a team first)
Vancouver
Colorado
Calgary
Edmonton

South West

Anaheim
Dallas
Phoenix
LA
San Jose

Central:

Minnesota
Chicago
Detroit
Nashville
St. Louis

North East:

Buffalo
Columbus
Toronto
Ottawa
Montreal

Atlantic:

Boston
New Jersey
New York
New York
Pittsburgh

South West:

Philadelphia
Washington
Carolina
Tampa Bay
Florida

Philly being furthest south on the map in the ATL pushes them out.

Although you could make a case for PHI being bunched so close together with everyone else, that moving PIT makes more sense. Crosby/OVY six times a year is better for the league too.

The Flyers are not being taken away from PITT/NJ/NYR

One of PIT/PHI has to go, just based off the map.

PIT and WAS also have somewhat of a rivalry from before Crybaby/Ovenchicken. So I'd guess it's them moving.

I think the NHL would try to preserve the current division rivalries as much as possible, and in order to do that, Nashville needs to go East, regardless of the time zone thing. Columbus in the Northeast makes no sense, and neither does moving one of Pitt/Philly.

Winnipeg in the Northwest
Minnesota in the Central
Nashville in the Southeast

I think that's the best solution. You don't want 6 teams changing divisions when you can make it right with just 3.

I agree about PIT. Dunno how receptive they'd be to losing NJ/NY/PHI though. I'm guessing not very.
