New 'Rat' in the making

Quote:
“It’s a compliment because I think he’s a good player,” Linseman said. “I get sick of hearing people talk about somebody playing like me that might not have that good of skills, so when I see [Marchand], it’s nice.”

It's interesting to see Linseman's take on folks comparing Marchand to him this season. The guy seems to be pretty high on Brad.

That Marchmont guy is GOLD. No way, absolutely NO WAY the Bruins can afford to not sign him on a multi-year contract. Bergeron and him were " something ", last night.

He never quits.

He goes threw and around defensemen.
He beat D'men to the corner.
Maintains possesion very well.
Finds the open man in the O'zone.
Kills penalties.

I don't think he'll ever be a big scorer, but he'll flirt with 60 pts, but he'll increase his linemates point total by 10 - 15 points each.

I hope he tones it down. We don't want our very own Alexandre Burrows. I heard he had problems in junior, too.

I remember him being traded and to a contender believe Halifax and he had problems there and was benching in the playoffs. Did hear more then that and to say we don't want a Burrows to that poster you serious? Yes he plays with the Sedin's and is a disturber on the ice but he produces every year and doesn't even cost much. Guy is exactly what we want

I love Brad, always liked him back from the Val D'or days in the Q, but man does he ever have a longggg nose!!!

I wonder who that was???

It's not his skill level that I was referring to. Burrows is a tool. Subban is a tool, Avery is a tool, etc. Marchand has already started building a bit of a bad reputation around the league, and I hope that rep stops now. That he had some problems in junior are a concern.

Pierre Mcguire Just saying Mcguire has made this comparison often.

I like the Linesman comparison though myself.

Ya big tools, I'd love to build a team around the 4 tools you named. Marchand has been our best forward all playoffs, Subban last night was the player in the game with the most ice time with 40:38 at21 years old, Burrows has had 28-35-26 goals in his last 3 years and Avery can make a difference, one of those players you want on your team cause you hate to play against

Any of those 4 tools on the Bruins I really have no problem with

Agree to disagree. I don't care how talented Subban and Burrows are or how effective Avery is, I wouldn't want those kind of guys on the Bruins. Marchand is very talented and plays with an edge, but there were a couple times that he crossed the line (including getting suspended for elbowing Umberger in the back of the head). And there's nothing wrong with an athlete doing some trash talking, it just sometimes seems like he's always trash talking other teams. That's pretty bold for a rookie.

I just hope he doesn't go too crazy. No suspensions next year, Brad.

The Marchand vs Subban rivarly will be awesome to watch. I love Marchand and his compete level is above everyone on this team. Quickly becoming my fave Bruin, how can you not love him after his shots to Plekanec's noggin We got an amazing young core of forwards.

As an aside, I think it sucks that the world has become so PC that Pacioretty feels that such a minor jab needs to be taken down on his twitter page.

If I were an NHL player, I'd be trash talking on FB or Twitter day and night, and I guarantee you it would be funnier and more cutting than what Pax posted.

Nothing about other guys families, girlfriends etc. but like so many here, I'm sure I could be much more entertaining.

This guys laid everything on the line tonight. He did everything he could do and did it with percision. I loved his spped tonight, I loved his scrappyness also, I loved his vision tonight. Wow!!!!!!!!! he played like a seasoned veteran tonight. His line was ripping it up tonight. Could have had 2 or 3 goals.
As in the past, the guy performs in the post season.
He and his linemates have been the best perfromers this playoffs so far for Boston.
Right from the start of the game, you could see he had that look in his eyes that he was ready to gooooooo!!!!!! and he did just that.
WAY TOO GO MARCHAND !!!!!! BRUINS ARE LUCKY TO HAVE YOU. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
Go end it in Montreal.

I saw McKenzie's career here and had season tickets for Linseman's entire stay in Boston. and Marchand is a hybrid of these two.

He skates well like both did, but plays wing and is more along the lines of McKenzie as a player- his style with the yapping after the whistle/always in the middle of things after a tie up is Linesman.

Love Recchi, but adding the big bodied Jordan Caron to that line next season could make for one heck of a line. Caron, speaking of hybrids- has some Glen Murray and Mike Knuble, and already is defensively responsible and a beast along the wall. I can hardly wait to see if Clode or whoever puts them together.

Marchand has been the best player in this series for either team.

When I would go to the games last season (2009-10), I made a point of watching the new guys. Marchand looked a step behind and never seemed a part of the flow. I figured he'd never be an NHLer. Boy, did he pick up his game!

This concerns me...so in between these vital periods our super stars are checking facebook and twitter? Shouldn't they be more focused on the game, and getting hydrated and ready for the next period. Especially in a sudden death OT intermission? If I was fighting for the cup, the last thing on my mind in the locker room would be twitter and facebook?
