I think the real problem is our first half of the season... things went too well and our whole organisation was like "this going to be a nice season". After the winter classic things went from bad to worse and no-one could turn things around.
Certain players not showing up like Leino, Richards and Carter
Plus, us just backing into the playoffs didn't help. Also, not having Pronger is a big void on the blueline. Personally, I think he should do whatever he needs to do and get in there and play. Guys play hurt through worse.
you have to give credit to the sabres for game one. the played a very solid game. 2nd game flyers lost sabres played hard but the flyers also missed some chances. game 5 was clearly bouchers fault letting in those 2 softies. At the same time, I dont think there is a reason to give up, Flyers have probably been the better team in the past 4 games. If Sabres lose game 6, you get game 7 at home in philly. What more could you ask for?
Also, this team is completely mediocre without Chris Pronger.
Exactly. Should we even expect to win without Pronger? He is the most valuable player for the team. He is the one player whose absence worsens the team the most.

Homer trades for Versteeg who has been utterly useless since he got here. We had a winning formula before we traded for Versteeg. Why tinker with it?

There is so much fail in this post. Versteeg has been quite good in the playoffs. Richards has been stellar defensively and has a couple of points now. The team has played much better than in the regular season so I don't agree they haven't played 60 minutes, they have, but sometimes Buffalo has upped their play. It happens all the time. Carter has one of our 2 power play goals before injury. Bob was replaced because according to Meltzer, he had an emotional meltdown. It sounds like Bob hit a wall after a whirlwind season.
Just keep trying to make a career in journalism, you have all the negativity to do it!
Paul Holmgren may have to go if Flyers get knocked out in first round. Gave up too many draft picks for nothing except Pronger.
Some will not like this but give the God bless America thing a rest, Kate died a long time ago. The Flyers have not won with it since 1975.

I actually agree with this. I love Kate Smith and the singing of God Bless America, but it used to only be sung in a game 7. Now it is sung at every playoff game (and I think I have seen in the regular season too). Limit it to game 7 (or elimination games if you really want to use it a lot). That way it is more special and will have a better "pump-up" effect on the crowd and team. If you do it every game it will eventually (if it hasn't already) become less meaningful.
