I guess only time will tell but Boyle's got skills to go with his 6'7 frame.
My guess is that he'll have another breakout season next year.
Possible. I just don't see what he did that was so special after a really hot 15-20 games to start the season. Since January, he played 44 games, scoring seven goals and 13 points with a -9. Decent numbers but hardly the scoring threat we need and would most likely sit on the 3rd/4th line. Where does he fit exactly?

Well, I look at the entire season and for the season, he did very well statistically speaking seeing that he mainly plays on the 3rd line. However, he also sees time on PP as well as PK. So obviously, the coaching staff has enough confidence in him on offense as well as defense.
As for where he would have fit on the kings, that's not so easy now that Lewis has played himself into a solid 3rd line center imo. However, I think Boyle too could have been solid in that role and perhaps added few more goals. We'll never know I suppose. However, I do know that we let go of both Boyle and Purcell for lot less than what they're worth.
Somewhere, Terry Murray and Jamie Kompon are watching all this lateral passing, one timers, middle ice driving, shots from the hashmarks and inside circles, defensemen activating on the rush and teams generating offense in overtime in the NHL playoffs and going pfft.

Purcell for sure. Not really sure we gave up Boyle for too little. A 3rd is solid for a guy who has produced as he has in general. If he pots 15 goals again next year, I'll agree we should have got more. But the jury is still out on him I guess.
Purcell, yeah, that sucks. I wasn't pleased to see him as a throw in, mostly because it was Jeff Halpern. I thought a 3rd for Halpern was to much, never mind adding Purcell. Great steal by the Lightning. Glad it's not a conference rival though.

I'm actually more impressed with Boyle being part of the Rangers PK and PP unit. To me, that speaks volume as to his maturity and development of his overall game.
I really think his game will only go up from here on out.
