Tough call

I tuned in to watch your game today since it has been an exciting series so far.

I know the Flyers' 4th goal was even-strength, but the penalty had just ended so it was pretty much a power-play goal.

I gotta say, from an objective viewpoint, that was a pretty weak Holding call under the circumstances. Late in the series, 1-goal game, mid-third...

What did you guys think?

I had no problem with it... Butler clearly grabbed a hold of the guy, and for more than a split second too. Dumb play on his part.

I personally thought it was a bit weak. For the condition the game was in, and other infractions being let go.

Sabres needed to be more aware though, being up one goal the penalty was surely to come against them and not philly.

I thought it was one of the dumber penalties taken during the series.

Regardless of whether or not the refs are letting you get away with murder, practically tucking your hand into your opponent's waist is making it a bit too obvious.

It was weak, but he did it, so there's not much to complain about. I thought the Leopold penalty that led to the PP that Briere scored on was worse.

It was a penalty, clear as day, but I could see it not being called. Eh.

it was the right call, the reffing issue comes in because that call is not called so many times.

Butler's play was atrocious tonight. I was sitting right where that play happened, few rows away. Butler couldn't contain him on the boards and grabbed his shirt. Refs hand went up right away.

Terrible play by Butler.

The Flyers player was skating towards the blue line, not the goal.

Why hold at all?

Good call, unfortunately.

I never did see the infraction by Leopold in the 2nd. Was it legit?

Yep, brain fart on Butler's part. Just an all-around dumb play. Glad the refs called it actually. Sad that it likely cost us the lead but I prefer officiating to be fair.

Seems you guys are taking it in stride. Anyway, I'll be tuning in again for game 7 - good luck!

These are the kind of things that happen when you're depending on Chris Butler to play big minutes in the playoffs. He's been overall good but there's a couple of bad plays every game.

This was the really bad call. Leopold put his hand on the forward's hip after Miller had covered the puck. NBC didn't even mention that a penalty had been called until after they had dropped the puck for the next face-off.

Philadelphia has benefited from the officiating this series. Their fans complain about one or two marginal calls in Game 4, but the Sabres have this brutal call made on them three times a game. Not nearly as one-sided as last year though, baby steps...

You know who cry's the most about officiating?

The team and team's fanbase that lost the previous game played in a series.
