For the life of me I can't understand what Slovakian hockey is thinking.. they hired a coach playing the worst kind of passive, 5 man trap system for 4 years. They have guys like Gaborik, Hossa and others and yet they are used as plugs..

Are you serious ? You know most guys playing in the WC are playing professional hockey in European top-leagues or the NHL and that the Q is a junior league ?

Let's just hope that JVR coming in doesn't take away minutes from CK

Knowing how Gordon's been playing certain out guys over Chris, i'd expect it.

Turnover by Kreider along the half boards in the defensive zone (he was moved to RW with Van Riemsdyk for some reason) leads to a goal. Now's it's 1-1.

I caught the last 10 minutes of the first. Kreider got no more then 45 seconds total the entire time.

Blake Wheeler is an animal. A turnover prone animal.

USA rolling 4 lines and Kreider is the odd man out. Being completely skipped over. 1 shift thus far in the period.

Young player makes one mistake, gets benched. Great way to build confidence.

Kreider's TO was far less egregious than what I just saw from Johnson and now Gaustad.

oh hey Kreider was just on the ice at the end of that play. Back to the bench

I wouldn't be so *****y about his icetime if I didn't think that he is a player that needs as much icetime as he can get but he's in college only playing 30-odd games and hasn't gotten consistent icetime in his entire career since high school

edit: he had a good shift there. Ended up with Stepan and Wheeler at the end of it

But Craig Smith makes a horrible turnover in game 2 and gets rewarded with more ice time.

Kreider-itis.

Kreider just made a nice chip at CI to spring a two-on-one. Other than the TO on the boards, he has been far more invisible than lousy.

Really don't understand how Craig Smith continually gets rewarded with more icetime.

Haha we are like a bunch of parents at a peewee game.

So true.

I usually never complain about a players ice time, but Kreider is just consistently used the wrong way each and every game. It's frustrating seeing Andy Miele got knocked every every 5 seconds and JvR skating around like he has nothing to prove at this level, while Kreider rots on the bench. Craig Smith has been good, but he gets well over 20 minutes a game with Stepan, who is easily the best player out there. Every goal/assist he has gotten was spoon fed to him.

Kreider-itis: Your line goes out on the ice and someone is offside, ices the puck, or shoots it over the glass. Conveniently the game goes to commercial break, like it is waiting for your line. When it gets back to the game it's a different line on the ice.

Gotta agree. I think Smith has been good but Stepan is really dominating with that line and holding them together.

If I had to redo the top 6 for the US I'd have...

Smith - Stepan - Wheeler
Kreider - JvR - Shannon

CK has played 5:39 thru 2 periods. Second worst only to Chris Porter

I suggested yesterday they put JVR at center with Kreider. I'm all good for Shannon on RW also, but don't expect Gordon and Cronin to remotely have a clue on trying some free wheeling. I'm surprised JVR didn't demand playing center before he came over. If I was him I would have.
