I would rather have Wolski for another year than Drury. Especially since Drury frees up more money, and Wolski might actually do something offensively.
Actually buying them out saves the around the same amount, 3.3 million.
Boyle should not be a center anyways. He should be moved to LW where he can utilize his size along the boards.
I agree with this, I hope they try him at wing. The guy has a pretty good shot we he can get it off.

There are only 4 spots man. The team is looking to upgrade down the middle, Gabby wished it as much in the media. Someone has got to go and I dont' think it's Boyle or Stepan.
Yes, lets get rid of people who are good that would slot into where they are supposed to be, to employ Eric Christensen as our 4th line center, with Boyle our 3rd. Am I missing something?
Offensively he disappears for significant stretches at a time...
This season he went 10 games without any points during one stretch, and went 5 games without any points on 3 separate occasions during the season. His points tend to come in clusters and then you don't hear from him for a bit.
Points are points. The kid is 22. You don't score 80+ points in the AHL while being a dominant 2-way force as a 20 y/o for no apparent reason.....

Drury
7.05 cap
3.72 buy out cap
Saves 3.33
Wolski
3.8 cap
.467 buy out cap
saves 3.33
Oh, alright. Thanks for clarifying.
Well, the point still stands.

I know that.
But people still wrongfully hate him.

you wanna talk money, im right there with you, but capt dreary being a "nice guy" doesnt play into it at all.
heres one for you.
one of the players in question is a broken down 35 yr old who cant skate and cant socre while the other is 25 years old and capable of 50-60 points in this league if he gets decent minutes. (hes done it before as a 23 year old)
they both cost too much, ill give you that.
the big difference, one is an nhl player, the other isnt......
Guy, I wasn't defending Drury, just saying why management would buy Wolski out over him. I want to get rid of Captain Quaalude, too.
Staple wrote the Rangers will attempt to sign Chris Kreider. He is their most ready NHL prospect.
Not really sure where is the room to re-sign Eminger. Adding an offensive D? Where is the $ coming from? Yesterday Staple wrote about the Rangers need to be patient with MDZ.
Not much room after re-signing the group II's and signing Richards. They don't have as much flexibility as Staple makes it out.
Bad choice letting Wolski go...he played pretty well and he has whatwe lack, skill. .......................
No but I guess you can put up 65 points in the NHL at the age of 22 and have it happen for no apparent reason.
And for people saying what a bad defensive player Wolski is he was a +12 on the NYR, but the great defensive Anisimov +3.
How do you go +12 in 37 gp if your so poor defensively?
And Petr Prucha was a 30 goal scorer his first season in the NHL.... Where is he playing these days? Don't put too much emphasis one 1 season when it comes to young players...
It would be a shame to give up Wolski esp. after we traded Rosival for him. essentially it would be another wasted trade. Wolski comes off as an articulate, smart player but you'd be lying if you say you saw anything special about his game outside of the shootout.
maybe it's time to stop with the high risk/reward reclamation type player? Can we find another trading partner other than the Coyotes?

One season? He has 65 once but 50 and hi 40's a few times. Ya know, the types of season our current Rangers get praised for.
Fact is he is coming off his worst season in the NHL since he started back in 06/07. After his first trade to the Eastern Conference. We need to bring back Wolski next season.
Forget Wolski, I can't get that icing, well what should have been an icing, in game 4 out of my head. He showed zero effort and let a Caps player skate right in front of him. The Rangers already have Gaborik on the team they don't need Gaborik light especially a lazy one.
Because he got sheltered ice time against 3rd pair defenseman and 4th line forwards. The same reason why Gilroy was a +, and Redden was a +.
And he was 24 when he put up those numbers. Honestly, come out. Are you Wolski?
So when he was on the fourth line they even scored? Because I have to tell you in the NHL you only get a + if your on the ice when we score no matter what line your on.
+12 in 37 games kinda blows up your arguement of his being so weak defensively doesn't it?

he obviously didnt know it was icing and was playing the body. We all know he could of got to that
Thing about buying out Wolski in my mind is it still leaves a hole in the top 6 talent wise
I like the idea of the below. Whoever earns it gets more minutes
Dubinsky, Richards, Gaborik
Wolski/Zuccarello Anisimov/Stepan, Callahan
one of above, one of above, Avery
Fedotenko, Boyle, Prust
One season? He has 65 once but 50 and hi 40's a few times.
So why does everyone keep bringing up his 65 point season like that's his average output? That year was an anomaly.

Oh, you mean the 45+ point seasons from complete players like Callahan and Dubinsky who play well defensively, comprise our top PK unit, and provide grit/toughness and leadership to team? What does Wolski contribute in those categories? Hmmm? Stop studying the stat sheet like it gives the complete picture of a players contributions & worth and start thinking about what these players contribute on the ice for their team. Neither of them (Callahan & Dubinsky) carried a near $4 mil cap hit while doing this so lets hold the players' accountable for how much they're making in relation to their contributions.

Great, what did he do to convince the Rangers he should be retained for his price tag (cap hit)? Was it scoring that 1 goal over his last 18 games while the Rangers are clawing tooth & nail to make the playoffs? Or the shoot-out goals? We need more forwards with heart and intensity in their games.... Wolski didn't show any of it. He earned his 4th line minutes.
