I swear I've seen this proposal before at least a dozen times and each time the Avs said no without any hesitation

No Schenn+, no Stastny...it's really that simple

Leafs fans, just stop these Stastny proposals. We are not very good trading partners.

Colarado doesn't do this...
They would only do it for a talent upgrade and Macarthur and Grabo arent good enough

LOL at those two posts.

I'm not saying the Avs should do this deal, but neither are the Leafs. Seriously? A triple face palm and a terrible for the Avs? So it's terrible to trade their second line center that is coming of a 57 points season, and that is paid 6,6 millions, for one of the best second line center in the league, that is coming from a 29 goals season, a 20 goals 60 points winger, two good picks, and a good prospect.

Terrible for the Leafs.

That "second" line centre is capable of putting up 80 points while being solid in his own end. Grabo is solid but I'm not ready to count him as one of the best 2nd line centres in the league just yet and only has 1 more year left on his deal. MacArthur has one good season and is due a raise. a Late 1st isn't worth much in terms of this trade and the prospects are decent but not exactly mind blowing.

Same. Yeah Statsny would be our first line centre but we basically kill our second line with this trade. It's bad for the Avs but bad for the Leafs to. Addition by subtraction, first line centre but lose our scoring depth.

57 point season which was very disappointing because we KNOW that he can be a PPG player. Plus you forget how Stastny might be our next captain and the fact that he is awesome defensively. His 6.6 million is not a negative for us it is only a negative for other teams.

Grabovski is one of the best second line centers in the league? What world do you live in and if he is one of the best second line centers in the league than what does that make Stastny? Why would we downgrade?

I thought this was just gonna be another Bos + Phi firsts proposal, at least you avoided that much... Terrible for the Leafs though, we lose too much. 60 point center, 60 point winger, a first, a second and a solid prospect... even after MacArthur's raise they'll be cheaper combined than Stastny. If that's the price for a guy like him we can't afford it.

****in way too much from the Leafs.

That's right, I said it; our team and ownership is flush, yours isn't.

Both 1sts
Ross
MacArthur (signed @ 2.9 for 2)
Rynnas

Is what any such trade would really look like in reality.

I do agree with this being overpayment and the fact that Grabo only has one year left on his deal would make Colorado hesitate if he doesnt resign.

I wonder if something around this would work more:

Colborne
Macarthur
Boston's 1st

for

Statsny

Statsny is eating up a lot of capspace while playing on your second line, and Colborne would be a suitable center to play on your second line either next year or the year after.

Mac + Grabo + Kulemin put up top line numbers

why should we want to deal them for Stastny. We have 2 high end prospects who could possibly filled the 1st line C void in 2 or 3 years.

Oh yeah I know they need/want Schenn. The was mostly because that's the generic saying by Avs fans when talking Statsny to Toronto deals.
