How About This?

How would you guys' and gals' feel if this happened:

NYR:

Tom Poti
2nd Round selection 2005

CBH:

Anton Babchuk

^ That was my first "trade proposal" so don't bash me!

Don't know enough about the player we would get in return but we should not trade any draft picks for the next 5 years. We are rebuilding. Not trying to win now.

TAKE IT, Babchuk is a highly mobile aggresive defenseman taken in the top 10 in 2002/3. hes impressive right now and should be one of the core pieces for Chicago's blueline. that would be a steal in the end

6'5" 200+ lbs and he's only 20. you may not see a guy like this in the 2nd next year so why not?

If he is that impressive I can assume they wouldn't trade him especially for a guy like Poti

That would be like us trading tyutin to Philly for Johnson and a 2nd, theres no way in hell we'd do that. I like Babchuk but we would have to majorly overpay in order to get him and lose younger, more promising assets than Poti to get a deal done.

Yeah but Chicago wouldn't. They have no defense as it is. Why trade for a bad defensive defenseman if it involves your best defensive prospect. Makes zero sense.

There is absolutely NO reason for Chicago to make that deal.

How about Poti to chicago for a 2nd rounder. I would be happy with that. That would give us 4 second rounders next year.

NY Rangers
Toronto
Philadelphia
Chicago

you're prolly right but i was just pointing out that a 2nd rounder isn't that important if you were receiving a talented young prospect in return.

Knowing who runs the show I wouldn't be so bold as to say that. How old is Kim anyway?

Despite the fact I hate Poti I think we can do better then a second rounder. If you put him on a team with a strong defensive system he might really help their transition game. I could see him doing well on the Canucks.

If your Chicago, why have Poti when you have Berard and Deron Quint?? Though honestly they need all the NHL ready help they can get on the blue line. If you make it Poti and Toronto's #1 next year for Babchuck, you might have a deal.

Note: There maybe not much difference in Toronto's #1 and the NYR #2. Maybe 6 to 8 Places.

I'd make that deal, but I'm not sure Toronto would be happy - we have their 2nd round pick in 2005.

My Mistake, I guess I was thinking of the Gonchar deal with Boston getting 2 1st round picks.
