Parise is a superstar and can create his own offense, but I don't think he wants to leave NJ.

Oh Lawd I would love Parise on this team, I don't care if he's a winger.

Parise might be a good fit. Pointswise he's a bit below Vanek, but he brings a bit more in playmaking and a bit less in goalscoring which the team kind of needs.

I prefer Brad Richards. We already have a high paid winger.

A bit less than Vanek? Parise will get you 80-90+ points a year, Vanek will get you 50-70.

Parise would be worth whatever we had to give for him. He's one of a very small handful of players around the league that I don't really care what their salary is, if you got them, you're lucky. Elite talented, offensive numbers and defensively responsible, has leadership, clutch.

Yeah, we'd **** our salary structure, so I don't see it happening, and that's probably for the best, but I can't say I'd be disappointed if we sent a jaw-dropping offer sheet his way. It'd be the Chicago way: take on way more salary than you can afford, and then sit around and pick and choose who you want to keep. Didn't work out too badly for them, overall.

Eh, not sure he's going to ever get near 90 again. 80 is the high point IMO.

The Devils can take him to team elected arbitration to eliminate the possibility of an offer sheet.

Vanek has 2.97 (1.57g, 1.40a)points per 60 mins of icetime since the lockout.
Parise has 2.78 (1.33g, 1.45a)

The first "Do Something Darcy" thread of our offseason. Nevermind the fact we can't make any moves until after the season ends in mid-June.

In a dream world, the Sabres would be able to deal Pominville and [Fill in young d-man here] for Parise.

But, that isn't going to happen.

NJ will want something like Ennis, Gerbe, and Kassian for Parise.

I can't see Regier doing that. Nor would I want him to.

Not true. Teams out of the playoffs can make trades effective immediately.

Agreed. We definitely need help down the middle more than we need help on the wing. The only way I see Parise being signed is if we trade away our young wingers for whatever reason. Even then, it makes little sense to tie up salary in a position that we don't really need to fill. Brad Richards or bust

We need centers more than wingers, and getting Parise would handcuff our ability to bring in another top 6 center.

Not that I see this move happening, but I don't see why it would necessarily create salary problems. They could just make Vanek part of the package. Personally I would do Vanek + Ennis + Kassian in a heartbeat.

And I like Vanek!

Pass. Parise's a great player, but I'm not willing to give up what it would take to get him, especially since the wing isn't a position of extreme need on this team.

And NJ would do that in a minute. The Sabres would RUN away from that offer. That is ludicrous for Zack Parise. Fantasy is fun huh?
