''He won't win MVP but his performance has been the best this season'' - BobbyMac

Basically said that about Price.

Said that this season no one has performed so well with so much pressure like Price did. After getting booed in the first preseason game and following all the Halak love, what he did was truly amazing.

He's only 23!

Lets leave the nonsense out of here shall we? it really is nice to see Carey get recognized like that by Mckenzie. He will not win anything this year, but next year he will certainly be a guy to watch for. I am so excited to watch Carey grow into an even better goalie. CAREY CAREY CAREY!

Awards:
Agreed, on all counts.

One thing was for sure, his performance this year sure quieted down my wife, who was driving the Halak bandwagon.

I am proud on Price. He ended the season like a leader. He praised the effort his team mated gave throughout the series even after losses. It's that attitude that wins you championships! And yes, Montreal fans are tough on players. And they were tough on him. And despite that he had a great season and played well in the post season!

Good for you Carey!!!

to be honest, i dont really care what hockey analysts have to say, but Price has been awesome all year.

Considering we played without the core our D all year & had to play behind guys like Mara, Picard, Gill, Spacek, Sopel, Hammer who are all decent but past their prime is very telling.

Get us some decent defensemen, and he will be even better.

Price was the Habs MVP, no one else came close. Subban and Wiz have been great stories, but without Price this year we would have probably been picking in the top 5 at this years draft

i really hate those arguments. I mean, where would Nashville have finished without Renne? NYR without Henrik? Bos without Thomas? etc etc

Most good teams have great goaltending & without them, they finish alot lower.

Im not trying to take anything away from price, but this is why our goalies always have so much pressure.

What does MacKenzie know about hockey? he is just a fat journalist. He has been sitting beside guys like Craig macTavish so long he thinks he is a pro like them haha. Stick to reporting trade rumours, MacKenzie.

Picard is like 26. I don't think he ever had a "prime".

Sorry to be trolling here, as I'm a Bruin's fan, but what you folks are saying is the absolute truth.

IMHO Carey Price was your MVP this year and he quite nearly got you to the 2nd round.

You should all rejoice in what an awesome goalie he is.

The saves that he made in Game 7 after being down 3-2 in the third period to keep us in the game were absolutely ridiculous. It's really a shame that the team spent more time screening the point shots and deflecting them theirselves then actually working to get the puck from the players.

Carey was pretty amazing this year. He may not get an award, but that doesn't change the amplitude of his performance to me.

Has matured both as a player and as person. I hope he continues this growth and shows the hockey world what he is really capable. I also hope Gauthier works to have the best team possible in front of him to help him out.

Boston at least has a capable backup/future #1 in the wings. If Thomas went down they'd be fine. The Rangers have a pretty low-octane offense, so they'd be screwed. Ditto the Predators.

I guess it's the way of the NHL these days, put most/all of your chips on one workhorse goaltender, and pray like hell he doesn't pull a groin. Not many teams set out to employ goalie tandems, they only get forced into them if their #1s struggle or get hurt.

Agreed.

He's part of a list of players who deserve to win it IMO. The thing I liked the most about Price was his consistency and the stability he brought to the habs. Allowed the team to focus on their play. If the team would play well and not get the bounces to go against them we would win 95% of the time.

The Price is Right!!! He had a greeat year, and a great playoff...3 of our losses were in OT...

No one player had the pressure on him like Price did this year...not one...He has responded, big time! We are in good hands with Price in the net....

I thought lottery team was meant for bottom 5 teams with a chance at the #1 pick. First sentence he says we'd miss the playoffs, then says we could have been a lotto team. So it seems he meant it that way too. It's generally how I've seen it put.

But you're right. You're technically in the lottery when you miss the playoffs. If that's what the poster meant then my bad I apologize for the confusion.

More and more there are a lot of solid goaltenders. Thirty #1 spots, more and more talent every year. Just look at the top 5 goalies this year. Price, Rinne, Lundqvist, Thomas, Luongo. All worthy vezina choices. Then you have Miller, Quick, Ward, Kipper, Fleury, Hiller.. and new up coming guys like Crawford, Neuvirth, etc.

The position is saturated with talent. The competition is absolutely insane. At least half the league have goalies who could theoretically have a vezina like season next year and be better than anyone else.

That starts with having a more stable defense in front of him. And a better defense starts with being able to control the puck a bit more as a team.

That was my argument as to why he should win the Vezina. The added pressure this kid had and the way he responded was incredible. Can't wait to see how he'll prepare for next year, not to mention it'll be a contract season.
