Just a guess. That is also game 3 Vancouver AT Nashville with a 9pm eastern start.
As Vancouver is the last Canadian team in the playoffs TV must want to avoid overlap with the early game. Or in Canada CBC wants to avoid TSN with a late running game crossing into their late game.

Like I said, just a guess

Or old people in Florida need to get home from the game before their 9pm bed times. They can go right from the early bird special dinner to the game!

Bring it on!

3-2 Caps! Green, Semin, OV for us, Thompson and MSL for them.

The old man on the other team is going to be flopping like a fish on his back to stop anything coming his way, crash the net. Sad knoobs isn't back yet, also thought wideman would be ready but not surprised. 3-2 caps backstrom gwg

food for thought.
* Tampa is a first period hockey team.
* Washington hasn't played in a week.
* Neuvirth's SOP is to start shakey and become a wall by the 3rd.

That adds up the the Lightning coming out flying while the Caps search for
their game legs. This game may well be more about Neuvirth than about anything else.

Over the long haul, Tampa needs this game. Its their advantage. If the Caps win it, they risk the Caps winning both Washington games with game 4 a decided scheduling advantage for the Caps.

I expect the 1st period to be kitchen sink stuff tonight.

I'm not sure if I agree with us getting run out of it in the first.

We're at home, the crowd is going to be jacked, and while it might be fire wagon (for a playoff game at least), I don't know that we're going to get run over.

am i wrong or wasn't one of the things that hosed the caps in that series vs tampa bay was pollin scheduling a concert or something that forced the caps to play games 3 and 4 at home on back to back nights?

Set the tone for the series and get to Roloson early.

Tampa took 7 games to beat just about the easiest playoff opponent they'll come across. Show them another level.

Sweet Ginger Brown, I'm in town and I got me a ticket! First Caps home game for me since Oct 2007. I am needing to rock me some red, who's jersey should I buy for this?

Does the old discovery crew still meet between periods?

All I ask is for the Caps to come out hitting. Like they did against the Rangers. We gotta set the tone physically.

Just to add one tidbit. Tampa iirc had the worst 3rd period differential in the league for the regular season. Endure early, wear them out late.

Well, the Capitals and Coach Bruce Boudreau don’t exactly agree that there is so much discrepancy between the two teams.

“That’s so much crap,” Boudreau said. “You know he doesn’t want to get in trouble by saying anything. But we all know we have faults. We got as many or more as most teams and gutted out a lot of things this year.”

We don't need to Run Roloson. Just have Marc-Andre Bergeron push one of our guys into him.
