Marcel Hossa

whats his deal? why isnt this guy in the NHL?! he was amazing in the olympics!! could we maybe replace Zherdev with him?

i see that hes struggled in the NHL, but at times can dominate in the KHL.

Maybe on a line with Giroux/JVR he could do some damage and get going (sometimes guys just need to be on the right team to break out in the NHL...and MTL, PHX, NYR are usually not the best teams for that IMO)

I know nothing about him, but I'm not exactly convinced by the "he dominates the KHL" argument. IMO it's like a player who puts up great AHL numbers but can't make the jump to the NHL

ok, dominate is a bit of a strong word...but he can certainly be successful.
also, in the olympics he was DANGEROUS (i will stick with that word)

if we need a cheap zherdev replacement (and imo not a terrible risk) i'd certainly hope we invite him to training camp...

He'd be worth a training camp invite.

Coming in peace...

imo, He's not much without his brother. But with him, that's when they both shine. He'd be decent on the second line in Chicago, but as beef invicts said, his game just isn't quite NHL level.

thats a fair call (im always a fan of the "brother connection")

however, i would say 'roo has the ability to pass to you as if he were your brother...

then again maybe thats just me loving G's playmaking abilities

I remember years back when my brother tried to convince me that Marcel was better than Marian(Marian is my favorite player). I occasionally poke fun at him whenever Marcel Hossa is brought up.

Patrick Thoresen should be invited back if we need to fill a roster spot.

Marcel Hossa was awful in the olympics

1 assist in 7 games

Marian was the one who had a great olympic

3 goals + 6 assists in 7 games

purely by the stats sure, but not in the games (i watched them all)...he was a real threat every time he had the puck, is a beautiful skater, and i was impressed with his two-way play (to say the least)...although it is a lot easier to back-check when you're that fast

Couldn't agree more. I was at the game against Russia and it honestly was like watching the Sedins where you often don't realize which brother made the play until it was long over

I'd pass, Thoresen is a different matter though.

If you've seen him play recently he's got a lot of talent and is good at defense like his brother.

its true he's had no success in the NHL, but he has had some in the KHL and the olympics. Maybe he's a late bloomer, i wouldnt mind the flyers inviting him to training camp and maybe seeing what he could bring to the club. (a highly viable Zherdev replacement IMO...more all around player, seems like a chemistry player like leino to me)
