I almost went with White, but then I thought, this is exactly why we traded for him.

So I went with Vlasic. For a kid that had so much promise not too long ago it seemed like he grew stagnant the last two years. All of a sudden this post season he has been playing fantastic. Not backing down from anyone. It finally seems like he's taken it to the next level.

Wallin as a surprising performance, White is doing an impressive job and obviously better than Wallin, but not surprising.

He's been doing that wrap around no look centering pass all playoffs, and it ALWAYS provides a scoring chance.

Wallin has absolutely SHOCKED me in the Detroit series.

I was hoping Huskins would get back healthy so he'd be scratched, but the W-pair (Wallin-White) has been rock solid.

Wellwood has been great too (what's with the W-names?)

Marleau, in a bad way.

I expect more out of him.

Come on Patty, get it together. I know you have it in you.

It's okay. Marleau will wake up the next series, while everyone else will fall asleep.

History repeats itself. It has been proven tonight.

Setoguchi... Hat trick in Game 3. My favorite sharks game so far. 4 goals in 7 games now. Whites playing great hockey too.

I agree but what do the fans think DW will offer these guys. I think White would consider a small paycut and maybe sign a 2yr/5 mil for the chance to play on a very talented team. Studwood a 2yr/2mil deal. Wood deserves a slight raise and knowing DW he will take care of these guys after the 2 yrs if they perform.

As an alternative, if Welwood doesn't re-sign. Ville Leino is a free agent. He and Pavelski would make a deadly duo on the 3rd line...

Other for me. All players on the list have been performing to expectations from my
POV. The Team collectively has been better at defense and has impressed me with their play in this area and ability to find a way to win the game. We have some nice momentum going right now.

Cant see why Kyle would jump ship unless someone throws a load of $$ his way. My guess DW locks him up by July 1st. Leino may cost more as well, but would be a suitable replacement.

Leino will likely cost much more than Wellwood. Speculation I've read has pegged Leino at around $3m. Wellwood should be around $1-1.25m, I think. That's a big difference for a cap constrained team like the Sharks.

We'll never get Leino. Philly won't dare let him go.

They don't have any choice. His contract is up and when they got Kris Versteeg, that put them right up against the cap. They simply won't have the money to sign him...

Sure they do. The cap is going up, Zherdev is gone, they have 15 forwards counted against the cap, along with 8 defensemen, and 3 goaltenders. It's all sunny in Philadelphia.

Unless someone offers him $4.5-5mil, he is staying.

and 3.4 million dollars to spare for 3-4 players. so unless someone gets moved they are playing cap roulette again.

This.

I mean I suppose if they traded Carter in the offseason (which seems to be the hot rumor every year around here) they could keep Leino. But as it sits now, Leino's gone...

They shouldn't have traded for Versteeg. He sucks anyway.

damn... reading through everyone's selections (mine was Demers), I find it hard to disagree with anyone.

How about an 'all of above' selection?

The team as a whole has just been thrilling to watch.

More out of shock to the inconsistency in the first round ... also shocked he has been stellar this round! I can't say I would have expected that from Nabokov in previous years ...

Are the Marleau votes negative? I mean, he's not playing terrible by any means, but he's not even playing to his own standard, let alone surprising.

Yes.

Marleau and Pavelski have both been relatively quiet in this series. Patty especially. However, I think their less than great play isn't as surprising as Wallin, White, and Wellwood's good play. All of whom are playing dramatically better than was expected of them.

To analytical consider them on I number scale: I'd say we expect an 8 from Patty and he has given us a 5 or 6. We expected 3 and 4s from Wellwood and White, and they are giving us 7 or 8s. We expected a -5 performance from Wallin, and we've gotten a solid 3 or 4.

Also, I think Jumbo's defense this series has been better than any Shark in the team's recent history, including Patty's top ten selke year.

I don't know how you can say that about Pavelski. He's been all over the puck all series. He and Wellwood are such great spark-plugs for the offense. If Mitchell were to pick up his game that third line might be our best line.
